Hi - this post has gotten confusing! In some cases they might ask for proof depending on what your wedding plans are. If you are having a court wedding then there would be no proof or receipts or venue or guest list!  It is my belief that you just can't be wishy washy about it. Don't say that you have a wedding planned but show no proof. We were approved at our interview on Nov 30th and we are having a court wedding, sometime in the 90 days when my fiance arrives. Please let me know if this helps at all or feel free to message me if you have any other questions!

@LoriandSwaroop, I read your counsulate review. Actually it eased my tension a little bit knowing CO are just humans like us. I’m actually planning to be their for the interview & hope that helps. What proof of income did you show ? Can I fill out DS160 for him as his internet service is 👎...?

@Greenbaum& everyone. I need help in figuring this out, please. So my fiancé had applied for a student visa in 1988’s & CO just entered “ application received “ on his passport . Asked him to come bk with more proficiency in language . So when he fills his DS160 should he mention it ?

If he applied for the visa and it was never approved then no. Here's why. The key word is FILED. Not approved or completed. So has anyone ever FILED for you besides your current petitioner (in this case,  you = beneficiary). If so YES, if not NO. Most answer it NO as they have never had a case FILED for them prior to their current petitioner.

Greenbaum, I thought there’s a question on DS 160 where they ask if a visa was ever approved or rejected .. am I wrong ? That’s what made me confused as he( it might hve been walk in interview then ) said he gave the application to the CO & they put a seal  that  “ application received “ on his old passport & gave everything bk. So can he answer no to that particular question ?

I say no because he was the one who requested the visa not someone else. If you are in doubt and feel more comfortable in answering the question with the information from that application, then go ahead and add it.

Since you didn't quote the question with a number I can only assume by your question that meant question #10 I believe this is. Give us as much information you can so that we can be exact with our answer otherwise we are guessing.

@Greenbaum, Thankyou for the clarification but sorry for the confusion. We r not at that stage yet so not sure of the question #.. read on another site abt this particular question & didn’t know how to answer. Below is the question that I read

“ Have you ever been refused a US visa, or been refused admission to United States or withdrawn your application for admission  at the point of entry “?

I'm not sure what "red flags" means these days... but we were approved on 11/30 (he is happily living in the US with me now!) and I really feel it was based on what was proved in the I129f and then how the fiance presents in the interview. But these days and with this current administration - who knows. We had "red flags", so to speak - age gap, I am divorced and have been married on a K3 Visa (England) before, his parents don't approve so I've never met them, he has never left India, we had no wedding plans or invites, I couldn't come to the interview - all the things all the people/forums tell you to have or not to have. He brought $200 worth of printed papers to the interview, not one piece was looked at by that C.O. except for the I129F papers. I just really feel it has to come down to something financial, something missed or off in the I129F, or something off in the interview (when you are nervous). I feel like the "good news" is that the 221g is the time to present as much evidence as you can then. Just go for it. If you have any questions on the $200 worth of printing we did and how (we literally covered it all) - you can message me and I can give you a run down from witness statements, itineraries, zomato and grocery delivery receipts, etc. Anything that had to do with "us" was printed, any photo, any conversation, it didn't matter - they asked for it they were getting it!

My fiance & I went for my interview to Mumbai Consulate on 16 May 2019. At the interview, my visa was approved but when I went to collect my passport, it was on AP. The consulate also sent a questionnaire, asked for resume, publications details, transcripts, etc. We sent the documents in a hurry and made a mistake (typo) in the case number and sent an old resume. We received automatic confirmation for that email. We, later on, sent a corrected email but we didn't get any confirmation automatic response for that. We have contacted the support-india team too but no help. Please suggest. Thank you

On Monday we received an e-mail from the consulate that our administrative processing was complete and to submit our passports. Lord willing, we're praying it will result in a visa issuance very soon.
