Hello all,

Well it looks like we're going to need a co-sponsor. Lucky for us my fiancee has great friends and we found one. We just have a few questions about how we go about this. Basicly how does this work? Is my fiancee the main sponsor and her friend just makes up what my fiancee can't? And whos family do we use to figure out the poverty line we have to meet?

Thanks for any and all help!

Adam.

Your financee is the sponsor, so she will need to complete the I-134.

Since she has an income shortfall, your co-sponsor will also need to complete the I-134 and provide necessary supporting documentation. I'm not sure exactly what's required for Canada but previous years of tax transcripts, recent paystubs and a current letter of employment w/ salary is usually a good place to start.

Your co-sponsor's income will be any of his/her dependents + your finace.

Edited: No, the co-sponsor's income does NOT only need to 'make up the difference' for where your fiance is short. The co-sponsor's income must be enough to exceed the entire level of 'poverty' for his/her family size + your fiance. (Apologies if that isn't clear.. it's a bit on the early side here still!)
