Looks like we are approaching yet another potential Government shutdown this Friday. Also 1.6 Billion in proposed Government spending cuts.

If either of these happen, do you all think we can be negatively affected (longer processing times, higher fees, etc...)?

Thoughts?

IF the government shuts down, USCIS will shut down. No question about that. I doubt they will shut down though.

Fees increase periodically. Last year the petition fee for K-1s went DOWN but the VISA fee went up. It was a net loss for one visa and a major slam if you have more than one visa (K-2s in addition to K-1s) so that is neither here nor there. From start to finish in this almost four year "journey" you can expect some fee increases. Believe me, it is nothing compared to the other expenses. Compared to the rest of the costs it is "almost free"

Processing times have also fluctuated and seem detached from government funding as a cause. Processing times are much more influenced by natural disasters and rsulting humanitarian visas than by funding...or even by the decision to move the processing at the VSC from St Albans to Essex Junction.

You can ask your questions 1000 ways and 1000 times and the answer is the same. You entered a process that takes time and will eventually finish. Some people go through it faster than others for any number of reasons and you will be no different.
