Hubby washed his trousers with my passport in the pocket last year, it came out all rippled along the pages and some of the stamps went a bit bleedy. The bio page is totally fine, as is the page with my photo and details, no peeling pages coming apart or anything, it just looks a little... fluffy is probably the best way to describe it.

It's got me through Mexico, Ireland and UK border fine, but do you think they'll be stricter at interview? What's the rule on a washed passport? It's still got ages until it expires, and I'm pretty broke so I'd rather not get a new one if I have to. In fact, I'd rather risk adding a couple of weeks onto my timeline if they're not happy with it than fork out ahead of time.

What do you guys think?

Ready for my grand ol' timeline? Alrighty then!

All that really matters is the bio page...the stamps are nice to show that you have been to visit together, but aren't really needed for anything else.

I think you'd rather risk adding a couple weeks onto your timeline than fork out the money ahead of time.

You win the prize. :bonk:

I remember Rob washed his passport and London didn't accept it in that condition. He was approved pending a new passport. The visa was in hand exactly one month after the interview date. See their timeline.

I may have been reading this backwards--i was assuming you were the USC and hubby the beneficiary in which case the condition of the passport wouldn't matter so long as the bio page is OK, but if you are the beneficiary, the pages have to be in good enough shape to accept the visa. If not, a new passport is in your future, but I'd still wait to see what happens at the embassy.

I'm the b-dizzle. I think I'll wait, especially with Nich-Nick's post. I have a good job here, and the extra month's pay would help with our deposit on a place. As desperate as I am to see him, I'd rather save cash and then earn it than spend it on something they won't ask for.
