Packet 4 and Affadavit of support questions...Montreal filing

My Canadian fiance just received his packet 4. First, it says there are no interview dates available at this time. Do we just keep checking the website everyday??? How long have people been known to wait? I figured if they sent out packet 4 then they were ready for him. Okay, questions about affadavit...

1. One of my children went to live with his father back in January. However, it hasn't been completed through the court yet so I don't have any official documents showing that he doesn't live with me. Will they accept a notarized letter stating that he hasn't lived with me since January? If I have to include him, then I don't meet the income guidelines.

2. What exactly can you include as income? My ex-husband has been paying me a divorce settlement. Can I include that? It goes on for at least five years.

3. If I am able to get a co-sponsor, are they obligated for the rest of their lives? Is there a time limit on the responsibility of a co-sponsor?

Thank you for any help you can provide. I hate this process. We go through the process trying to do things the right way and might get denied just because the instructions aren't clear or maybe it is our fault that we don't completely understand them.

Unfortunately, yes, you just have to keep checking. People have waited over a month, easily, to be able to book an interview in Montreal. And the interview they get is generally a few months away.

I'll let someone more knowledgeable about the I-134 to answer your financial questions.

Thank you for answering so quickly. But I wish you had a different answer. ;) We were hoping he would be here before our birthdays in November or at least Christmas but that appears to be just wishful thinking. I wish they wouldn't make the process so difficult. We are the ones doing it the right way after all. Sorry that I am complaining but the distance is a very hard thing to deal with. Thanks again for responding!

oh...wow....that really sucks...because if I have to include all my children then I have no way to meet the income guidelines. Heartbreaking. :(

I understand. If you're lucky and keep checking, you might be able to grab a November date if anyone else cancels. Montreal is horribly slow and I know the waiting is stressful. Good luck grabbing a date that's not too far in the future!
