Hello,

I just received the I-130 approval notice (18 days, no RFE  )and I was wondering what comes next as on the notice they said that they would be contacting the beneficiary themselves. Do you know if they contact them by mail or by phone? Also, do we really need to wait a full month before contacting NVC?

Thanks

You can contact NVC now to get your case number and start the visa process. This is what we did in our case, unfortunately, it took longer for them to provide our case number. Once we got the case number though, everything went smoothly.

Thanks for your answer, I'm going to contact NVC tomorrow and hopefully they'll have a case number for us soon.

Please be warned, there has been a backlog at NVC since the summer where instead of taking on average a week from NOA2 to case number, it's now taking about a month. So, although you should be calling every single day, keep in mind you probably won't be getting the case number for another few weeks.

Once you do get the case number though, just give both email addresses over and NVC will contact you both through email instead of by snail mail.

While you're waiting for the case number, you should be reading the guides (over and over) to learn this next part of the process:

Hi Rujby,

At USCIS Haitians Nationals get an Automatically Expedite but because of that when it's time to wait for the interview stage its 4 to 6 months wait for the appointment so either way the process takes about 9 months and EVERYONES CASE IS DIFFERENT TOO.good.gif

Well you have never told me that Haitian National has automatically Expedite. When we were first talking about it, you told me to request one and told me that my request may be denied depends on the situation and that i had to submit papers so that my request can be taken into consideration. Now can you please tell me what do you mean by Haitian National and why do they get Expedite automatically? thank you

I remember we were talking about my case and just like i've been saying the whole time EVERYONES cases are different. WOW i didn t know that. This information is really new to me, i just check the website and found that all beneficiary in Haiti has their petition expedited, which is very good. They said there is no need to request one, why did you request it anyway? Do the expedite applied for the 3 cases: USCIS-NVC-HAITI COUNSULATE?

The only reason I did one is because when i called to get more information on that website the rep went through the process of it with me but i didn't have to but i was told to. Also NO IT DOES NOT PERTAIN TO NVC OR PAP CONSULATE that's why i'm still waiting for an interview date. Because of the expedite at USCIS it takes 4-6 months to get an interview date after case is closed at NVC so using my case as an example. i got My NOA2 back in May and case Complete in July and now it's the last week of September and NO INTERVIEW date yet where other countries are getting interview dates the same time the case completes for the next month. SO Now i know that last time a CR1 on here for PAP got an interview date was for NOVEMBER and she's been waiting a month before me since JUNE. SO I'll probably get an interview date for December or January.

Not exactly true about how long it takes to get an interview, see my timeline. It is best to actually request the expedite.. i had to do it twice before i saw action on my case.

NVC does not contact your spouse/partner. In my experience, it was better to email the consulate and ask them to email me the packet 3.5 or we never would have received it.

Call NVC for the case number. Email the consulate and ask them if they have received the case. Email the consulate to ask for them to send you packet 3.5 After that you can email your spouse and do what you need to do.. but certainly don't wait for them to make the first move, because they won't!

That's not true for IR-1/CR-1 cases. For K-1 cases, you zip through NVC without sending packages, but it's the opposite for spousal visas. NVC does send emails and packages are required. The embassy doesn't play a part until AFTER a case complete at NVC.
