The airport officials or the customs officials have no requirement to tell them what doctor to see. Not only that but they are only a middle man and do not know the process.

Go to the USCIS website and look up civil surgeon locator. Use it and find the proper Civil Surgeon.

Though the medical is generally done before the immigrant enters, before the immigrant visa is issued.

On what sort of visa did your parents arrive?

If you are a citizen (your profile still shows removing conditions) and petitioned for them, they will have done their medical before the embassy interview. Their greencard should arrive in the post within 3 months (a stamp on their visa will serve as temp greencard for a year).

if your parents arrived on ir-5

then

they not need additional medical exam in usa

unless

they have medical waiver verbiage attacked to the stamped visa in the passport.

however, if they arrived on a 'tourist visa' then they not arrive on any 'immigrant visa'.

Sounds to me like the Border Patrol Officer at their POE was poorly trained, as 'the visa packet' they turned in at the POE, included the medical packet.

re: green card - it'll show up in the postal mail within 45 days.

re: SSN - go to SSA office at the begininning of the 3rd week past their arrival date - show passport and visa stamp, apply.

Good Luck with 'shifting yer knowledge' a bit - yer cloudy on some things.

Oh - to be even more certain - please study the parents' visa stamps, please tell us exactly what visa type they have, and whether or not there is some I-551 stamp there in the passport, or no ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

USCIS website and look up civil surgeon locator. Use it and find the proper Civil Surgeon, if you need. Look at their VISA stamps for type they might not need additional medical. Review you paperwork, have fun.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

hello thank you for all your responsed my parents visa was IR5 category, they did a medical exam in china before their interview, my parents immigrant visa have note said "upon endorsement serves as temporary I-551 evidencing permanent residence for 1 year", but during their medical exam in china the doctor said they will undergo again a medical exam when they arrive here in the u.s including T.B test, the doctor in china gave then a copy of x-ray result to give to doctor here in the u.s.

it was my american citizen sister petition them.

its your parents undergo another medical exam when they arrive here as first immigrant?

thyank you very much

ok - check the visa stamps again - see if any other coding in the visa stamp.

If so, please write it out here. If no other coding, then is extremely unlikely they are pegged for another medical exam or anything else medically related. (Suggesting that the doctor in China was an idiot)

Because a doctor in China 'said it' - means nothing unless the Visa Stamp contains additional coding in it, reflecting the need for other medical stuff. This usually comes in when one is pregnant or is on a medical exam waiver program, or is required to undergo additional medical testing. IT DOES NOT HOLD UP THE PRINTING OF THE GREEN CARD, at all.

re: I-551 stamp - hey - they can use that as soon as they exit from the airport, as a 1 year temporary green card.

so - have another look at the two visa stamps - what's written there, coded in?

great - so no medical coding on the printed visa stamp.

COOL.

Uhm - sorry - the 'doctor' in 'China' was wrong.

Tell yer parents to not worry about this stuff anymore.

Darnell is correct. I suspect there was a missunderstanding, because everyone gets given their x-ray to bring with them, but you don't actually need it anymore after you enter the USA.

hi, only one stamp on the passport, the date of they arrival and visa class, they wrote IR5, that the only stamp on their passport. they have another one but this is a departure stamp from china immigration.

Was this a blue and red oval stamp? That's an arrival stamp.

Is there no stamp that says "Processed for I-551" or "Upon endorsement, serves as temporary I-551"?
