I went through LAX which I would assume is slower. I waited in the USC/Resident line (that's where you're allowed to stand). It was SIGNIFICANTLY quicker in that line but some airports will tell you that you have to wait in the visitor line (not true, you're not a visitor and they have paperwork to go through). Once I got to the front he opened the envelope I handed him. Scanned my prints, asked where my medical was (it was there, he just didn't see it), took my picture and wished me well. Maybe 5 mins total. Other people have had a long wait.

For me the immigration part wasn't hard, it was the picking up my bags and taking them through customs. The line was VERY long and my bags came right near the end. I had 2 1/2 hours between landing and my next flight and I was STILL almost late for my flight :S ('cause of the waiting line for POE, customs, security and then the walk to my departure gate)... ugh!

wow rencor and m_a has totally different experience, i wish i would be able to get through the immigration as fast as m_a, my fiance decided to come home to PI for just couple of days to pick me up... and we decided to allot 5 hours in detroit (just to make sure) 5 hours wont be too much of a hassle bec iwill be with him... we'd probably just enjoy waiting (what's couple of hours to wait compared to the long depressing months of the journey for all of us anyway) thank you for those who replied, and im happy i will not be alone in NC thank you again!
