July 28 they received my package and it has been on the initial review stage. I know this part is different for everyone on time lengths but just want to check if this is in reasonable time. How long did you wait in this stage.

what comes next after this?

5 months is the average amount of time

The system is not accurate, you need to disregard it really. Most peoples never change from initial review even if they are approved.

From what I am hearing from most people do not focus on the website. I think it will hinder you from allowing time to past also. I am not focusing on the website. I am going to just keep it moving and when I get some information from them I will advise, otherwise you will be addicted and drawn to that computer all day every day :help:

Many people have been approved without their status ever changing from "Initial Review" ... it is very often not updated so don't stress over it - it is not reliable. Best of luck with the process.

Mar 2011 - After 5mths denied for lost docs - Attempts to follow up failed. Mar 18 2012 - I-129F sent - No sign of NOA1 but they have banked the check...Jul 24 - Update - USCIS has located our file
Infopass Apt - they sorted through everything - our 2011 and 2012 file keep getting mixed up - getting us a Case# (still waiting) Dec- Infopass Appt- expecting to get a case # in about a week ..Still no Case number

Mar 2013 Infopass - advised file was in a box somewhere, and it would be quicker for us to refile. Life gets in the way... New petition submitted July 2014 .

Thanks for all your replies. Now my other issue is this.. I signed up to receive a text message and email when notification comes. I never received a text message (USA number- does have texting)... and I never received any paper in the mail saying it was accepted. I only received an email! Correct email was down for address.

Now I have called the USCIS and they told me if they request info my status will update and I will be able to see it on there incase I don't receive anything in the mail again.

NOW WHAT? What if they ask for info, I don't get anything in the mail and my status doesn't update?

Then you call again. Status updates are a privilege, they don't always log the updates and the system doesn't always work!

Hola pinkpoka. Go to the Mexico Portal by clicking on the flag. Then go to the "Quick Link" This will give you an idea of your wait time. Find some cases that are similar to yours in time, Service Center, case type and so on. It will give you a good estimation on when you should expect something. I averaged out the times and it was very useful to me. Good Luck.
