Ok so i've been placed in line to schedule for an interview since sept 1 2011, it's been almost a month.

I called them 3 times within these time and once a guy told me that i will receive a written notice within 40 days(from that day).

Then i called again, some lady explained my status to me, which was very unhelpful. And she couldn't do anything at all. The third time was about the same.

I know i have to wait. But these people are working so slow. I've actually went to my local office one day, and i saw that the office was totally empty. I mean like seriously, i expected that the place should've been so crowded...Anyways I wonder what these people are doing while we are in line for scheduling. Don't tell me they are checking our background because i know they are Not!

I know everyone is different. I've heard people only waited 3 weeks or even 2 weeks to receive a notice for interview, though i don't know if they were exaggerating.

When should give USCIS a call again ?

I do not know how anyone can answer you. To get accurate answer you should at least have the type of visa you applied for and the country you are dealing with. Please put in a timeline when you get a chance. Egypt has a 6 month wait for CR-1 I-130 applications.

May 24, 2011 NOA1

Sept 11, 2011 NOA2-took 19 days to get case number

Sept 30, 2011 NVC number and IIN received Friday-gotta wait till Monday

Oct 13, 2011 Case Completed- 13 days from receiving case number Took 32 days from NOA2

Nov 30, 2011 Notified of Interview date

January 19, 2012 Interview- 240 days from NOA1

INTERVIEW RESULTS-APPROVED WITH 14 WEEKS AP--but he got his visa in 56 days!!!!!!

PLEASE EDIT YOUR TIMELINE IN YOUR PROFILE SO OTHERS CAN LEARN HOW LONG EACH STEP TAKES IN THIS PROCESS

He is talking about the citizenship interview, not a visa. However, it is still impossible to tell because it depends on the filed office. In my case (Fort Smith, AR), I did fingerprints on a Thursday, was placed in line for interview scheduling the next day, and interview notice sent the Wednesday after that.

Look at my timeline.

By calling so many times in just one month you're only gonna tick them off.

No embassy, no visa- this is a naturalisation interview.

Just checking the calendar, summer is always a bad time to apply, not only Memorial and Independents day, but 20 days paid leave for vacations, plus another three weeks of sick leave, use it or lose it, whether you are sick or not. Had Labor day, that should add at least two weeks, Columbus day only adds about a week as does Veterans day, but Thanksgiving and Christmas is coming soon, have to prepare for that, normally adds at least a month to processing. January and February is not good either, Martin Luther Kings and Presidents Day.

End of March is a good time to apply, not much going on, but get your taxes done early, need that for evidence.

Really finding a correlation between processing times and the time of the year. This time of the year is not good. Just wait.

According to my observation based on the timelines from the May filers to August filers is that from fingerprinting to being scheduled for interview is on average of almost exactly a month (4 weeks or a bit more). My fingerprinting was on Sept 8 and my status is now scheduled for interview since Oct 7. Its Oct 11 now and I didn't get the interview letter yet. And when the interview letter comes I expect the interview date to be 4 to 5 weeks from october 7. And of course there are those really lucky people who get their N400 process completed in 2 months time from the time they sent their application to oath taking.

It really depends on your field office...

I've been placed in line for the interview since July 19 and received a Yellow Letter on Aug 30, till now I have yet received an interview letter.

I'm assuming that we just have to wait!! :(

What is your field office?
