Police Certificate from Abroad Need Authentication from Manila?

Hi Everyone!

I worked abroad and obtained a Police Certificate in Kuwait. Does it necessarily need to be authenticated [red ribbon] in DFA, or wherever it may be. Is this required by the US Embassy Manila upon submission during Interview?

Also, since I've got my NBI renewed last February 2011, is this still effective until next year?

I really do appreciate your insights and experiences. :help:

Hello there! i got one fr saudi and no plan of having it authenticated. i don't really think there is a need for that. mine also has english translation. i mentioned it here before and nobody said anything about red ribbon/dfa authentication. few months ago there was another Pinay here who commented that nobody asked for her saudi clearance when she did the interview and it was a relief coz she DID NOT HAVE ONE. I guess people at USEm are aware that most countries in the mideast only give police clearance to their citizens. So i am guessing that's the reason why they didn't ask for it.

Re NBI clearance, it is valid for ONE YEAR. But if you have the old version, i would highly recommend that you go and get the new one (i think they started giving out this new nbi clearance sometime in July). I got mine a week ago at Robinson's Otis.

Good Luck!

Thanks dear! I feel relieved as far as Police certificate is concern.

How did you get your NBI [new version]? Im still in Kuwait, be home next week. How long does the NBI process takes? Were you still in Saudi when you requested your NBI? Thanks so much!

just went to robinson's otis (samwer in manila) with my government-issued id and some money for the fee. arrived @ 6 30 am, guard allowed us in at 8am and started the process right away. after paying the fee and there's no "name hit", you should be done in 30 mins. you can go to other malls or nbi centers (pls check nbi site) if you like but i chose otis coz a lot said it's the fastest and not crowded. and they were right. i paid around 8:20 am, i was out of the building before 9 am.

btw, if you choose to go to otis and you don't know where it is (and you have a car to drive), i suggest you take that car and bring along someone who is familiar with the area. i think it's better and safer that way. be there as early as you can.

Good Luck!
