Hi Everything must always have a cover letter on top, it will delay the process if you dont add it.

Umm no. There is NO requirement for a cover letter. Maybe for a CR-1 visa there is, I have no idea, but there DEFINITELY isn't for AOS. And there definitely isn't a barcoded cover letter

OP - you can if you like. I personally did to use it as a kind of check list to make sure I didn't forget anything, but there is no requirement for it.

P.s. if you have the cover letter with a barcode, that they provide its even better

You're talking about a response to an RFE. This doesn't apply to an initial petition filing.
