Do I need to be at the interview?

Topic sort of explains it all. I am in the US looking for work after returning from a 3-month visit with my fiance. We never got an interview date in the time we had given ourselves per my research into average wait times. I am concerned Canada won't let me back in for the interview, so I need to know if she can do it without me provided I give her all the appropriate paperwork I need to provide - letter of intent and whatnot.

Its Canada, most people go to the interview alone and are approved.

Why on earth wouldn't they let you back in? again its Canada!

I think you are more worried than you need to be.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

I am a Citizen of the United States of America. 04/16/13

I was already there for three months and they gave me a very hard time when I went there since I just graduated University and do not have a job yet. My Dad is a co-sponsor on the Affidavit of Support and he makes well over six figures, but I am still having trouble finding work and I don't want to hurt her chances of being approved because I can't find even a Walmart job. As for being more worried, I'd rather be overly paranoid than caught blind-sided. Considering we've been waiting two months refreshing every 20 minutes just to get an interview I don't want to screw up what will likely be our one chance.

Thanks for the quick reply.

You don't need to be present for the interview, no worries :D My american fiance (well, husband now lol) didn't attend my interview and my visa was approved  It's not even a consideration to the interviewer.

Not required for Canada!! Most of the time at the Embassy is spent waiting and waiting. The interview itself last at most 10 min and most of that time the interviewer is looking over the paperwork.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Right! Can-American couples can and have usually visited frequently and thus don't have the need (as much as other countries do) to proove they've met or that it's a real relationship - of course that's not to say you still didn't have to provide evidence when you applied of course :)

Other then moral support, your fiancée doesn't need you there. It's one day out of your lives.

I think you are more worried than you need to be.

Actually, I was pulled into Secondary travelling to Canada. I was questioned for about 45 minutes. I was told bluntly that entering Canada was a priveldge, not a given, and I could be denied . . . (It didn't help it was midnight (my time) and I was tired and stressed - so I probably wasn't giving coherent answers!). It ended with the officer writing a date in my passport, showing I couldn't be there past that date. I didn't know about 'bring as many ties as you can to show you are coming back to your country' rule. I had e-tickets, so hadn't printed anything out.

After that, I printed my travel arrangements, and brought copies of the paperwork for the CR-1. I was asked (guy looked suspiously at me when he asked) "Why wasn't I moving to Canada?" I smiled and said "We were planning on it, but then my son and his wife said they were expecting twins . . ." Guy couldn't get me away fast enough, I think he thought I was going whip out pics of the ultrasound!!

To reassure op - 10 minutes with interviewer, and it was done. Only took that long because she had retired, and they brought her back.
