We (fiancees) all were told not to leave US after get here. Soon we'll get married and we are planning our honey moon. Are Virgin Islands OK? Is it still US and I won't be deported once we get there and will have NO problem with coming back to Chicago? Well we know that it's part of US but what if they do a new port of entry for me on the way back...bcuz I visited islands!!!

Thank you in advance dear VJ's members )))

if it is the US Virgin Islands then you are OK... it is considered a US domestic flight as long as it is direct to the mainland, No POE.

this post makes me smile... and then laugh... cute! nwy, as long as you don't step out of US territory/ies without their prior approval, you are ok. Have fun on your honeymoon and congratulations!yes.gif

Yes, we did K1. And we'll be married already by the time we'll fly to Virgin Islands...we can take copy of our marriage lisence. I just want to be sure that my K1 visa is enough to go TO islands and BACK to MAINLAND without any problems for my further ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS. Cuz we are going to start AOS right after we get back from honeymoon. So it's for sure that flight from mainland to island IS DOMESTIC!!!

well, i think you are playing it too close.. domestic or not.. you won't be a US Citizen at the time (us citizens do not need passport, that part is clear).. so why chance it.. in my humble opinion.. i think it is NOT worth the risk.. no matter what anybody tells you here.. it will be the people at the airport who have the opinion that matters..

but, if that is what you and your spouse choose to do... i hope it works out great is not a problem.. and not like the article i posted..

:)

i would say, go to Florida.. instead.. for now.. you have rest of your life!!

Id take a trip to South Florida or something, i wouldnt risk it. if she doesn't have a US drivers licence, then don't risk. wait until she gets her green card, and suprise her with a nice vacation.

Florida has alot of nice beaches, and warm weather. :star:

I was thinking virgin islands but I had the same worries about the whole birth certificate and proving US citizenship so we chose to go to south florida instead. Better safe than sorry.

My fiance and I really wanted to go to Puerto Rico for our honeymoon. But everything we've read indicates that it is a risk. So we're staying stateside for our honeymoon.

I've read that post September 11th, travelers coming back from USVI are required to go through customs and immigration. And some immigration officers may consider a trip to the USVI as abandonment of status. Its completely up to their discretion. And anything left to the discretion of individuals is a risk. So I would not recommend it.

What's being a USC got to do with anything not everyone that comes to the US wishes to become a citizen geese as long as she was a permanent resident she would be fine.

Barbara.. you are correct.. not everyone needs or wants to be us citizen.. i am new here to the lingo..

i was merely saying that the other person would NOT be US CITIZEN nor have adjusted their status (they wanted to wait till AFTER honeymoon).. nor had it processing..

so there could be an issue with the travel plan as orginal poster stated.....
