October interviews for Colombia Posted

So the October interview list was put up on the embassy site today. The month of October has 654 interviews on the list with 450 of them having BGT numbers that went to NVC in 2011.

My main reason for looking at the list (I did not get an October interview) is to see where my number was in comparison with those that did. I was told I was "just" missed for September interviews and when I looked at the September interviews they ended at 2011699 and I an a 2011702 so it seemed pretty close! I was really surprised to not get an October date the next month.

In the new October list there are 110 interviews that went to NVC after mine - I assume most of these are K-1s with the interviews being set by the embassy with fewer openings sent to NVC for the IR/CR-1.

My concern is this: I have really set the expectation to my wife that November should be our date after having done the same thing in October and being wrong (i went back a full year, if I miss November I will have the record for longest wait for Colombia NVC complete to Interview date). Looking at the list I am wondering if the huge push by USCIS to get caught up with NOA2s earlier in the year that drowned the NVC with cases and has put them way behind is adding time to the IR/CR-1s to get interviews even after CC. The K-1s are getting through and getting the interviews by the embassy which is leaving fewer spots open for NVC when they take their turn with the IR/CR-1s. There is also the fact that there are a lot more cases at NVC due to the USCIS push so you know there are those sweet talkers getting themselves bumped in line..

With two holiday days in November that translates to 30 -50 fewer interviews which probably come right out of the IR/CR-1 pool since they are last in line to get them. I don't think Bogota leaves slots open for NVC - they just send in their list at a certain date with whatever openings they did not schedule and NVC fills in the rest with the IR/CR-1 backlog.

I am betting with all of this that some later August NVC CCs are going to go a full four months before getting an interview (December interviews)..

Of course it is always possible that missing October is going to my head and I am over-thinking the process  but I am now finding myself not overly confident of a November Interview when at one point I was pretty confident of an October interview.

I don't believe it.. Prove it to me and I still won't believe it. -Ford Prefect

You will definitely know the date of you interview before it's posted on the embassy's website because the NVC will give you that information directly.

As for the actual dates, it's really up to the US embassy in Bogotá, they're the ones who decide how many of each visa type they'll interview each month. But based on other people's timelines, you should be getting a November interview.
