I made a typo on the I-129F. My fiance's birthday is 4/19/1989, but I put 4/18/1989. I called the customer service number and requested a change. The person that I spoke with was definitely not a native english speaker and he had trouble understanding me because I had to repeat things over and over. I submitted this service request on 9/19 (Monday). I received an e-mail stating that the changes could not be made since the request was not submitted by the petitioner. I called and spoke to this guy who was not very helpful at all. He told me to wait 30 days. I tried to explain that they had made a decision on the request, but the information was submitted wrong. He was not relenting! So I hung up and called back and spoke to someone that was very helpful and also acknowledge that the person submitted the change as if it was the beneficiary. She told me to put the request in writing, but there was nothing that they could do with he request that had been filed already. My case was approved on 9/6/11. Should I write Vermont Service Center or should I let my fiance deal with it at the interview?

No wahala dey!!!

Not a material issue, do not worry about it. You can correct it at the interview

Correct it before the interview, dont even make the mistake of waiting till the interview because they can use that as an excuse to deny ur fiancee. Never take chances with date of birth because they are very serious about that in Lagos due to fraud in Nigeria.

I will concede that Nigeria is a different breed of consulate and defer to those with direct experience with this matter.

The date of someone's birth is not a material issue and in most places would not be any problem whatsoever to correct. I did in fact make that exact error on our sons documents and was allowed to correct it at the interview. I drew a line through it, and wrote the correct date and initialed it. No problems at all.

Thanks for the input. We are having issues with the case being transferred. So now I am waiting to get confirmation of that, then I will deal with the birth date issue.
