Hello and good day to all VJ members! Finally, after a long wait, I am now reunited with my fiance here in Maui where he is based for work. The reason I am writing is to know if there's anyone on here who has gone through the same thing; applied for and approved of a K1 Visa and knows about what to do after getting married. My 90 days wont be up until Nov 30th, and we are planning to get married before then....

So when we have already gotten married, what do we need to do next? Do we have to inform any office here in Hawaii, or just apply for AOS to be sent to Chicago later?.. How long after the marrriage should we apply for AOS? We still have to save money as the AOS fee costs much, I hope it's okay to wait a little while for the AOS..

Thank you and any information, suggestion would be appreciated. God bless everyone here on VJ :)

Get married before the 90 days. Then file for AOS as soon as possible. That's about it.

Get your SSN now before marriage. It will make things much easier later. After you marry, simply go to SSN office for name change.

Although there is no time frame set for filing AOS, it is advisable to file as soon as you can. Preferably before the medical exam you had

from St. Luke's expries. Otherwise, you will have to get medical done all over again. Typically, your medical from St. Luke's expires in 1 year.

I agree that you should apply for SSN now prior to getting married and then apply to get your name changed at your local SSA office after you

get married. FYI, you do not need an SSN to file for your AOS.

Thank you all for your replies. I got married 11/7/11, before my visa expired last nov 30. Now I am working on my AOS application. Hopefully, I would be able to send it in this coming MOnday. Sorry for the late reply guys and thanks for your concern. God bless :)
