Hi everyone

I got y GC about a month ago, I have a sister who is living in Germany studying her PhD there. I was wondering if I want to invite her to visit me over Christmas and New Years what documents do I need to send to her? has anyone had any experience with this?

I will send her an invitation letter (from my husband and I), a copy of our marriage certificate, a copy of my GC and a copy of my husbands drivers license (or birth certificate). is there anything else I need to send her? she will be funding herself so I don't think I will need to send bank account info or anything, do I????

The invitation letter is all she need. She does not need your marriage certificate, copy of your GC, etc.

All foreigners seeking to enter the US are presumed to have the intent to immigrate. Your sister needs to overcome this presumption based on her situation. Your situation is almost irrelevant. Essentially, what are the objective evidence that indicates she will not overstay her visitor visa if she is granted one? Completing her Ph.D. may be the best reason for her to return to Germany and not overstay in the US.

She does not even need an invitation letter. A tourist applies on their own, on their own merits. They do not need to be "invited" by anyone. She can and should apply on her own with no help from you.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Depends on a Consulate. It is very helpful to provide either your itinerary or invitation, or any other explanation of why you want to visit the USA when somebody applies for a visa in Russia.

Also, for those, who is applying in Russia, for a B1/B2 visa to visit their relatives, there is a requirement to bring a proof of their relative status, i.e. copy of their visa, GC, passport - whichever is applicable. This information can be found on the Moscow Embassy website. So, my advice is to look at the local embassy's website.

Agree, it depends. I had an invitation, I got approved. My friend didn't, she got denied. They asked her what she was going to do there, and she said visit a relative. They asked if she has an invitation. Her answer was she didn't and she thought its not needed. Boom!! denied!

Hi, everyone,

I am a newbie but hoping someone has the correct info about B1/B2 visas for Russian citizens. I have invited my parents to visit but saw a requirement for obtaining clearance to get a visa. My parents were extremely discouraged by the fact because getting clearance is a lengthy process in Russia and now they're hesitant to come at all. But I have recently read that the U.S. is trying to simplify visa application process for Russian citizens. Could anyone clarify for me whether Russian citizens need clearance for B1/B2 visas and whether we should wait because the U.S. is about the change the whole application procedure?

Thank you.

She is going through Germany.
