Hello

I was born on May 1982 and I became LPR or came to US on december 2008.

Now I have sent N-400.

My question is that do I need to register for selective service. I never knew regarding this and I am not registered.

Will this create a problem for my N-400.

Please clarify me regarding this

thank you...

If born May 1982, then you should've registered for SS if you became a LPR between May 2000 and May 2008 (ages 18 and 26 respectively).

You became a LPR after your 26th birthday so you did not need to register.

You should be fine...

Thank you

Not given the precise dates, you were anywhere from 26 and five months to 26 and seven months old when you received your green card. Worse case is still above 26 years of age, so you never had to register for Selective Service.

Certainly reason to be concerned, its only the USCIS that makes a big issue out of this. No president in his right mind will reinstitute the draft, would be political suicide. In particular with a war he started all by himself, which in our history, has been every war since WW II. What makes it most ironic, is that most of these presidents were draft dodgers themselves. Just needed an old man rich enough to send them to Harvard.
