You are correct. That provision of PPACA went into effect some time ago. That provision is what this thread is about and that provision is what sara owes her life to.

The 2014 thing refers to the exchanges provision of PPACA.

Seriously is anyone believing she would have died in the streets?

We've got Illegals on weekly dialysis and she would have been turned away?

the illegals dont make enough money to be turned away from state health care

you have the choice to believe it or not is up to you but for many of us we can not get state health insurance and finding a insurance company that would allow me with heart problem was not something i could do..i did try a few but.i did not have time to shop around and wait for some underwriter of the company to decide if they would allow me a policy......hospitals want paid doctors want paid they do not take small payments they want insurance there are many of us in this type of situation and yes i would have died i hate the idea that anyone that is a citizen of the USA can be in that kind of need but its a fact and no way around it.

I am glad you're still around, sara.

Have you considered reaching out to your local chapter of Obama for America and sharing your story?

yes i had a leak

i knew i was sick but i didnt know how sick i had saved enough money to have my wisdom teeth removed in the end that didnt happen for many months after because the oral surgeon heard my problem when he listened to my heart so maybe it was my bad teeth that saved me  and sent me straight to the hospital

The premium goes up when you add people to a policy. Who pays it depends on individual circumstance.

The policy I have at work has 4 premium tiers: individual, individual+spouse, individual+child(ren), or individual+spouse+child(ren).

It costs the same to insure 1 child as multiple children.

So, for example, a person who has 3 kids, two under 18 and one over 18 but under 26, would not see a premium increase by adding the eldest child onto the policy when the younger children are already covered by it.
