for some of us the leeching is not true we make too much to qualify for state health care but not enough to pay the high expenses of anything that is surgical in the hospitals ........when it cost you over two hundred dollars just to see your doctor then add into the expense of MRI, cordial ecogram..and surgery to fix a hole you have wiped out any moneys that you had and are in the hole until you reach retirement

some of us pay to help our families.......my dads insurance might have gone up some but the company he works for absorbed it..if it had not i would have been more than willing to pay what ever the extra was.......not all young adults that take advantage of the health care issue are leeches

sara

so you plan on paying back your dad and your dad's company for absording those costs?

so that means that anyone that receives insurance at no extra cost for their family from their employer is getting a free ride?

sara

Someone's paying for it, aren't they? If you're not the one paying, then someone else is paying your way.

i guess if you want to look at it like that then i guess i am getting a free ride on medical........as well as anyone else that receives medical at no extra cost thru their employer at least i did try to pay the difference.

it still does not make young adults like myself leeches

sara - for your sanity you have to ignore these boys. they do not understand real life situations. my sister has just graduated from virginia tech. she now has two jobs. neither one of them offer her health insurance. my sister has had type one diabetes since she was twelve. her medical supplies cost easily $1200 per month. she is working hard toward independence and a not a leech. my parents are relieved that their insurance company will still cover her. these boys that harp about 'personal responsibility' and how much they pay out to support all the 'leeches' in the world - well, they just don't have a good grip on reality. some people are sick and without access to health insurance through no fault of their own. if you try to convince certain folk in the politics and religion forums, you'll just rack up more medical bills for banging your head against a brick wall.

:) thank you for that......i dont normally take a stand on much on these forums.....and truthfully i guess it did hurt my pride when i had to go on my dads insurance

what you responded to was something i wrote responding to someone else that stated people like me are leeching off of their parents.........thats what i objected to

sara

I realize that. But you didn't acknowledge that someone other than you was paying for your healthcare.

We don't live in reality; we live on the internet. As such, we have no idea how things work in the real world.

Your health problems are not my business. Why should I pay for your sick sister?

sara

Why did you "have to" go on your dad's insurance? Why not buy your own policy or go without?
