G-325A Issues

Hello VJers,

I am kicking myself for not filling out all my forms when my wife was here last week. As soon as she left I realized that she needed to sign the G325-A. I had her FedEx me a blank copy of the form 1) signing and dating it and 2) printing out her name in the box at the bottom of the form. I had planned to fill out the rest for her but there are a few issues.

1) I will have to use a continuation sheet for which I do not have a signature.

2) When she printed the pdf it printed '0000' in all the year fields. so basically I cannot write over it.

3) She printed it on a different size paper (India does not use 8.5x11) so a continuation sheet will look different.

So...

Will any/all of this cause of an RFE?

Should I have her resend or is there an easier way to remedy this?

I've gone through the search history, but has anyone gotten away with not signing the continuation sheets for a G-325A? Any assurance would save my sanity.

Your help is GREATLY appreciated!

I've read on VJ that some people have had no problems with not signing the continuation sheet. But you might have trouble with the 0000 on the dates.

I'd re-do it if I were you. You can fill in the form, save to PDF, email the PDF of the filled out form and the continuation page to your wife and have her print, sign and mail both documents back to you.

For the address issue I was thinking of just putting 'see continuation sheet' in the street/address and name/employer columns. Then have the proper dates on the continuation sheet. If this works then I only have issues with the continuation sheet being a different size and without signature.

We had continuation sheets and didn't sign them. I was a little worried, but went with it and we had no problems!

Also, just another note I messed up on on the G325A for myself (USC)...At the bottom of the form where it says "This Form is Submitted in Connection with an application for", I actually checked "Status As Permanent Resident" and then saw on here I should have checked "Other" and wrote-in "Form I-130". Fortunately, we didn't get an RFE or anything, but just thought I'd pass that along as well.

USCIS **40 Days**

8/1/11 - I-130 Mailed (USPS Priority)

8/5/11 - NOA1 via text/email

8/15/11 - Requested Expedite

9/2/11 - Sent in Expedite Evidence

9/14/11 - I-130 Approved (Online Status)

9/17/11 - NOA2 hardcopy received

NVC **45 Days**

10/1/11 - NVC Case # Assigned

10/4/11 - Paid I-864 Bill

10/6/11 - Paid IV Bill

10/31/11 - Sent I-864 & IV Packets (USPS Express)

11/7/11 - Received False RFE Email (Requesting IV Packet)

11/8/11 - Case Completed

11/14/11 - Interview Date Assigned (for 12/28/11)

11/15/11 - Case Forwarded on to Managua

Wow, I would of not caught that! Thanks for the tip!! It puts me a little more at ease knowing that some have gotten away without signing the continuation sheet. Although it still feels like I'm rolling the dice.

Yeah, my logic for not signing it is, if you have written on the form to see continuation sheet and signed the form, why the need to sign that continuation sheet as well. But, I'd say it all depends on the Officer you get. Good luck with whatever you decide!

G-325A of the foreign spouse doesn't take significance - initially when I contacted a lawyer before deciding to do it self with help from VJ, the lawyer said that USCIS will accept G-325A of spouse signed by petitioner, as it is the petitioner that counts at this stage.

Here is what I suggest you do - you sign for your wife and submit the application (99% you will not have issues with you signing your spouse's G-325A, as DS-230 submitted at NVC will be the imporatant one and is the actual visa application) and then meanwhile send the form and get G-325A done properly by your foreign spouse, just in case you get a RFE (1% chance). This way you will still save time.

USA

I agree with NavyK, I sign my wife's G-325A and had no issue, but the DS-230 has to have his/her original signature.

Great! Thanks so much NavyK/Elkhirs for sharing your knowledge.

Since she already signed the blank G-325A do you think I should just scrap it and do it again? Or use her's (which will look different because of the paper) and I sign the continuation sheet. I don't know if this approach will draw more attention to the inconsistency of the form/signatures...

In my opinion, damage is done. I'd resend, just to try and get the process moving again.

My feeling is that if there is a question, you get put in another stack to be sorted later.

(Hear the echo: Later later later)

-----------------

Immigration Visa Forms and Process Notes:

As of 05/30/2011 (for forms)

Preface/Philosophy:

-The idea is to make it as easy as possible for the poor sap reading these forms to get through the form without stopping.

-Latest forms were always obtained online at USCIS.

-No forms were used from packets.

(Either because they could not be typed in or because they were expired.)

-Whenever possible, responses were typed in.

(Select: Enable Java for this document - Always.)

-Whenever possible and reasonable, a response was put.

-Signatures, signature date, and form areas after a none/no/blank/"N/A" response were generally left blank.

(Putting something in a N/A signature area did not seem like a good idea.)

-Except for using all Caps in I-864, I tried to use the same address (correct for the response, of course) and the same address format as was used in the I-130 for each response. The idea being that they will check the current residence, spouse residence, current mailing address, etc. to make sure they are the same when they should be the same.

-Note that we scanned both me and my wife's passport bio page together (on the same printed page). So they get a copy of mine and a copy of hers (side by side) every time.

Form: G-325

Title: Biographic Information

Version Used: Expires 06/30/2011, Rev. 06/12/09

Notes:

Used PDF fillable form (saved copy), only signature/date was hand written.

Used same style as I-130 since they were going together.

(LASTNAME in all caps, everything else Normal except "none" and "N/A".)

Parents names were written like WANG, Hairen instead of WANG, Hai Ren.

Compressed Street and Number to fit (i.e. #1-3-4-2, No.163 Wuyi Rd)

Only put City and Country (no province) unless asked.

Used "none" and "Homemaker" for relevant lines (time periods) in employment section.

Alien Registration number was 000-000-000 (autofilled if you type in none, I think)

Applicant's last address outside the US of more than one year. I wrote "shown above"

Last occupation abroad if not shown above. I wrote "shown above"

Chinese address was typed in using Win 7 Chinese input language.

(I think simplified Chinese had to be installed with Adobe Reader.)
