GC and SSN on hand. Can I work?

Hi everyone.

I recently got my CR1 permanent resident card and SSN in the mail. Now my quesions are:

1. Can I apply for jobs soon or do I have to file a certain form or something?

2. Can I travel for a week to Italy without any future hassles from the immigration when I finally remove the condition?

Sorry for asking dumb questions. I'm just completely lost about this whole process since I'm still adjusting here in the country.

Yes, a GC allows you to work. You are allowed to travel on your GC.

Hi aphrodite.. i just want to ask where did you submit the CD with our medical records for SLEC? i just want to know if we are just supposed to keep the original copy and the CD with us.. because nobody from the airport ask for it. Thank you so much. and by the way, regarding your query if we are allowed to work once we already have our greencard and SSN, i think we are allowed to work already. Regarding the travel to italy, i think we still have to get a permit to travel and you have to at least secure a valid visa goin to italy, unlike for the US citizens, i think they are allowed to travel to italy even without a visa. Hope this helps.

You do not need a permit to travel. The GC gives you the right to travel. You will have to secure visas for any countries that require you to do so.
