I remind them that when I came to America I had no money and spoke no English. I have been homeless and cold. No one helped me but me, and look at me now. Some folks will think of any reason to give up.

That's a great idea!

Lets stop food stamps, welfare, section 8, etc., and remind everyone that immigrants can come here and make it... they should have no problem.

And send the unemployed deadbeats and criminals to a penal colony!

I earned my unemployment. Thanks to the state of Alaska I got a raise in my unemployment benefits hence the reason Iv'e turned down two jobs in the past couple of weeks. I just don't feel in the mood to go back to work right away. I have 3+ months left on my extension and welding now and then under the table pays the bills.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

So you enjoy commiting fraud and making the citizens of Alaska pay for you because you can't hold a job or don't feel like looking for one? You have turned down jobs so that you could stay on the dole? Seriously? How are you any different from those welfare cases that you love to rail against?

Because in Alaska smart guy, it's the employee's who pay the most into unemployment benefits. Iv'e paid my fair share, and I'm on vacation. I could be up on the slope right now busting my balls or I can lay around the house and post on here. I chose the latter of the two.

If nobody took unemployment we wouldn't have an unemployment system.

And if peeps in Ohio had a clue, Bush wouldn't have been voted in a second time. So I call it a draw.

Some people best serve society by being on welfare. They should be carefully screened and removed from public payrolls as it will be cheaper to just pay them welfare.

No there wouldn't be.

There'd be people who would have to turn in one of their cars, move to a small apartment, cut cable and cell service, etc., instead of maintaining their current lifestyle. It takes very little money to eat in this country and there's no excuse for anyone to not be able to eat.

Well, anyone that will work, anyway.

Just so nobody gets the wrong idea...I feel bad for all the peeps looking for work but can't find any. On another note, there's plenty of work here in Alaska so if someone chooses to live where the job market sucks.... HA HA HA...p*ss on you.

You don't get unemployment in Alaska unless you earned it. So again...boo hoo hoo.

btw I get my Alaska Permanent Fund Check in a few weeks ($1,200 bones)...so ya, life is good, especially when the wife is making bank working mass o/t. I knew there was a reason I got remarried.

Wow. Is this what we're really debating?

Instead of going the Bible route, why not go the legal route? Define marriage in each state. What is a marriage?

For us it is one man and one woman and an extra girl now and again.

LOTS of people live paycheck to paycheck. The rent is due and kablooie, there goes everything. And when the ipod is sold and the phone cut off, then what? Also you NEED a car for work. And many times the insurance and maintenance make it more of a liability.

And what? So money should be confiscated from my pay, from my family and given to someone else? That's just bullsh*t. I canceled my TV because TV sucks and I should never have subscribed to it again. I knew it was a bad idea. We are back to Redbox for our movies which is the only thing we watch anyway. No ipod, no smart phone (my cell phone is a rotary dial model)

If we would get more peeps off of welfare my unemployment checks might be larger. I'm all for getting these dead beats off the dole and back in the job market.
