In a modern, post-industrial economy that seems better suited to women than men, many are wondering if men have been permanently left behind. Education and employment statistics point to a clear and growing dominance in women’s status at home and in the workplace. Are men primed for a comeback or have the old rules changed for good?

Men run the world. Period.

the only men who are finished are the ones who act like little girls half the time.

I'm cool with it so long as I still get sammiches!

In most societies, men's status has been much more varied while women were much more ubiquitous, status wise (obviously wealth and titles extended to women as well and there are various exceptions but this is generally true). Further, women have had much less control over their own social status. Men are risk takers. That means there are going to be winners and losers. Are men as an average being depressed? Probably. Is that something that should bother the average man? Absolutely not. We live in a meritocratic society. Success is obtainable through your own actions. So what if only 40% of college graduates are male (or whatever the number is today)? That just means that there are fewer men out there with good access to resources which means they are less able to compete with you for mates. There may be various injustices that are perpetuated against men, but I don't think it's such that a man can succeed.

Further, I think the perception and stereotype that men can't succeed in a cerebral environment (or even that they are disadvantaged in such an environment) is ridiculous. There is nothing un-masculine about studying and working in a white collar job. Further, I see no reason that a woman is better qualified for such work than a man. It's just that traditionally men had an advantage in blue collar jobs where physical ability was important. Now it's all even and men are whining.

Traditionally, men dominated white collar professions as well so there is little reason to believe men aren't capable of using their minds. Frankly, the only people I ever run into who seem to think that are men who don't know how.

The only people I know who end thoughts with "period", expecting that to be the end of discussion are women.

I never expected it to be the end... more like the beginning!

Now it's all even and men are whining.

I don't think men are whining because women have the opportunity to seek out good jobs, I think they're "whining" because women are often given preferential treatment.

I've never met a man who couldn't use his mind. Only problem is, many men only have one thing on their mind.

Stereotype a little harder please. Pipe fitters, electricians, HVAC techs, etc...all use their mind and their physical strength. The US has lost it's manufacturing base, construction is down, and the economy is tanked. How long will the white collar jobs be around if there's nothing else around? It's the economy.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

This is 'Merica, where women aren't even allowed to be president

I would vote for one even if Dems won't

Men are not finished until we say we are. And then we are finished and the women will LIKE IT.
