hello everyone!

I started reading different posts from this forum ever since my husband filed CR-1 and CR-2 petition for me and my son and it has been really helpful to understand the processing of US visas.

Yet, I cannot find a post who has the same case as mine. Can someone please help me by answering my inquiries? i hope you guys will find time to read this. thanks :)

My husband (who is a US citizen at birth) filed a petition for me and my son last January 10. Since he has ACR, the embassy said its okay for him to file it here in Manila. We kept waiting and waiting for the letter until last July, my husband finally decided to ask the embassy regarding the petition. they said that the petition was approved January 25! (can you imagine how long we waited and all the while it was approved) They can't find our address in Batangas that's why they weren't able to send the approval letter. Anyway, last August 18, we have finally received the approval letter. I sent the DS 230 and I already scheduled an appointment on September 27.

Medical:

My son (5 yo) had primary complex last March 18, and we had him take kids kit up to August (which supposedly until September 18)since i miscounted the months for him to take the medicine. during our Medical at SLEC, the doctor found that out because of course she counted the months and told me that my son should still be taking kids kit. so the doctor advised for our son to have chest xray. the result was clear but since he skipped a month of antibiotics, my son have to go everyday for a month (until oct 10 =which is also our wedding anniv!) at SLEC to drink his medicines. the doctor also said that he needs to go through sputum exam which he did last Sept 13, 14, 15.. the next day, the nurses told us to go to pulmonary evaluation and the doctor there said that his sputum smear is positive, but they don't know what it is yet, so they have to wait for the culture. the doctor also advised him to extend the medication until november 10. I asked them regarding my medical because since mine's already released, it might expire. so they said that i should go to the interview on September 27 without my son.

I am just wondering about these:

1. when the smear is positive does that mean that we have to undergo the 6-months medication? or are there some instance that the smear is positive yet it is a bacteria other than TB?

2. my son is just 5 years old, i mean does he have to go to his interview by himself after?

3. is it true that once you have cr1 visa its validity is only 6 months? what if my son has to undergo 6-months medication? cani file for extension of stay here in the Philippines if ever i get approved?

4. im a bit nervous about the interview process.. can somebody please tell me how the interview room looks like? or is it just a plain glass window just like at the bank? lol.

Please please hope you can help me

thanks!!

about your question number 1, you will have to wait for the result of the culture test which is 2 months..if the result there were positive, he would undergo a medication but not sure if its six months coz you said that you miscalculated the months that he should be taking that medicine. you have to wait for 2 months for thge result of his culture test

about your son interviewing, i dont know maybe he will not be interviewed because he is too young..

dont worry too much, they said that it is medical is much more sterssful than the interview..

The medical is only good for 6 months, the Cr1 is good till they think it's abandoned so you're good there. If the smear is positive, then the culture will confirm it's TB. If the smear is false positive the culture will come back clear. The culture (two month test) is the one that matters here mostly. Best of luck and I'm sorry I couldn't answer more of your questions.

Sorry to hear that ... what i understood is that SLEc will cancel existing interview schedule and if you get positive on smear ull have treatment for 6 months and im not sure if u still need to wait for a cultre test that takes 2 months before the 6 months treatment so ull be delayed most likely 8 months. On that same day that you get positive on xray they inform and cancel existing interviews and move it to a later date.

yeah, but they advised that i should go to the interview this tuesday and they'll just have my son's interview be rescheduled. the thing is, the medical result's validity is good only for 6months right? so it means i have to go to america before it expires. but how about my son? what if he needs to undergo 6 months treatment? do they have waivers or something that assures them that we'll have his treatment in america? cos nobody's going to be with my son. all my relatives and my husband's relatives are in america. do they give consideration to minors? he's only 5years old.
