Guess he thinks and many probably will that he said that only from now on that no deportations unless they were criminals. Article in our local paper where I live where the proceedings have been stopped for most. It has surprised even their attorneys. Nice going Obama the Socialist on upholding the law and allowing lawbreakers to go free.

Since you are obviously a bit foggy up there, let me give you a simple piece of information.

The deportation of a single illegal immigrant costs us, the American people, $11,500 on average. Multiply that with an estimated 11,000,000 illegal aliens and the bill gets up to 1,265,000,000,000.00. Can you even pronounce that? Doesn't matter, because we don't have that kind of cash anyway. Not even close. In fact, we are broke and have maxed out all of our credit cards. That's why we had this long talk about raising the debt ceiling!

Now, forget the unpronouncable amount of money we can't spend and tell me how many years ICE will be busy with the current amount of 11,000,000 illegal aliens if they deport 250,000 per year, every year? If you didn't flunk 4th grade math, you will come to the correct answer of 44 years, so we are talking the year 2055 if no new illegal immigrants are added.

So what's the solution?

Printing money won't work, deporting more illegal aliens we can't afford, hiring more CBP and ICE agents we can't afford, higher taxes the Reptilians don't want, so what? I'll tell you: focus. Focus on those illegal aliens that cause the most harm: criminals. Why kicking in school doors out dragging children out of the classroom or Jose from the strawberry field if for the same $11,500 we can deport a real bad boy.

This has nothing to do with ideology but priorities and common sense. For that reason the DREAM Act will pass. We may not like it, but we can't afford not to, purely from a financial perspective.

Time for you to catch up with both and get a taste of reality.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

So it is OK to ignore that Obama the Socialist has stopped proceedings already in progress? It is OK to glorify and try to pass off that he is deporting more to help bolster his numbers when he has stopped deportations? He is allowing law breakers a get out of jail card free but now we are told he is deporting more. Yes I agree someone is foggy up there.blink.gif

I can't (just kidding it's 1,000 trillion and another 265 trillion --- or 1265 trillion) but who cares cause the math is way off!!!!

And this is to just deport them all. No one has said to do that but morons don't listen. There were a lot of deportment proceedings that were stopped and the illegals allowed to walk away. This is allowing law breakers caught and in the system were let loose. Obama the Socialist has now said that his admin will do this in the open and all proceedings will be stopped. There is no way to go after every single illegal but if you are snared one way or another then deport them. The dream act is also allowing criminals to become citizens. Way to go Obama the Socialist.good.gif

Nice catch LI

I remember catching a math error of yours a couple of months ago. Nice to see you pay it forward

Thanks. After seeing a digit past 999 trillion I had to wonder if someones calculator was broken!

A really funny number ($1,265 trillion) when you think about it.

Planet Earth GDP seems laughable in comparison.... $58 trillion vs. $1,265 trillion....That's what? Planet Earth GDP (at a 2009 pace) for almost 22 years, lol

My husband was deported 4.5yrs ago under GW Bush and it has always bothered me that Obama has decided to stop deportations for people who have no basis to stay here. My husband was an asylum seeker with work authorization, a valid SSN, and a clean criminal history. We tried in vain for many years to work through the system but ultimately it wasn't in our cards to adjust in country. He was detained for 4 months and sent on the most expensive flight possible(Royal Air Maroc) both of which were probably at some ungodly cost. What a waste for the taxpayers since he came back two years ago and can apply for citizenship in April.

I agree that we can't afford to forcibly remove illegal aliens and perhaps Obama is right with his focus. But as far as the Dream act, it's completely unnecessary. What we really need to do is actually enforce the employment and basic benefit laws. That is, make hiring illegal aliens economically unpalatable (punitive fines and taxes for those that do it). Don't let them go to school. Don't give them welfare. They'll leave on their own or starve to death in the streets. That's immigration reform I can get behind.

His number wasn't 1,265 trillion, it was 1.265 trillion (1,265 billion). I think you missed the .00 at the end and thought it was ,000.

The correct number is still 126 billion - he was wrong by one order of magnitude, not 1,000.

Truth is this huge costly mechanism to handle illegals does not go away when the deportation numbers go down. It is kinda like the Post Office... do you really think the cost of postal service goes up or down according to the monthly mail load?

Even if we used your number... of 11,500 per offender.

How many years of social services, public schools spots, tax rebates, emergency room visits etc before it adds up to that inflated cost you quoted of Eleven and a half grand?

Not very long.
