Hello,

My wife has become very ill. She is seeing a doctor but I can't leave her home alone with our 9 month old daughter for I fear that one of them will get hurt. I am missing to much work and was wondering is it possible that I can bring my wife's sister who is 30 years old here to America so that she could help me out. They are from the Philippines and I am not to sure if it is possible to bring my wife's sister over even though she is a permanent resident. I remember reading that she can only apply for her Parents but because this is a big emergency is there any way I can get her here? Thanks for the help.

Sorry your wife is ill. I am afraid you can't bring a family member on a tourist visa to take care of your wife and child. Any work for which a USC would normally be compensated for (child care and patient care) is illegal on tourist visa.

Thanks for the quick replies. I wonder then am I able to hire her on a working visa? I will pay her to come her. What does someone have to do to hire someone one like that? If anyone has a link on this site please let post it and I will read up on it.

For work visa, you have to prove to the US govt there is not a single US worker that can do what you need them for - doubt you can do that in a very short amount of time. Why can't you just go to the people in the community and hire someone who is already there?

I just might have to. I wanted my sister-in-law because having a family member help would not only save me money but would help me wife as well. I think it would help release her stress having a family member here to talk to and do things with. I mainly wanted my sister-in-law to help with my wife's health. But looks like it won't happen.
