How much money should someone have?

A friend of mine wants her fiance to come and visit her from the UK. They have not filed a K-1 petition just yet, but since he may be eligible under the visa waiver program he would like to come and vist. Does he need to bring a specific amount of money with him? He will be staying with her so he really won't need money for lodging or anything. Also, will a visit affect their potential filing of a K-1 petition? And lastly, if for any reason he is denied entry under the visa waiver program, will that denial affect the K-1?

He can come and visit and why would he be denied he is just coming for a visit yes? a few weeks? He just needs his return air ticket and proof that he has ties back in the UK. I visited before we K1 and never had a problem.

i visited my fiance at christmas which was before i filed for a K-1 visa and i had no problems whatsoever. i wasnt asked about money or for any proof of ties back to the UK. all they asked at my POE was why i was visiting america, what was my job, and how long i would be staying for. your friend will need to fill out an ESTA online which will cost $14 dollars though. visiting america will actually look good for the K-1 visa so your friend needs to save the boarding passes and any receipts while over there

Does anyone know how long he can stay using the visa waiver program? He was thinking of staying for 1 month? Is that too long?

The VWP allows for up to 90 days.
