My 67 year old parents to apply for a B2 Visa from London, England

My parents are thinking of applying for a B2 visa.

Right now they are here on the VWP (90 days) returning next week :(

I just got my conditions lifted from my green card and received my new 10 year GC last Friday.

Next Feb I am eligible to apply for naturalization based on my 3 year marriage to my U.S citizen hubby and 3 years residency.

But my parents don't want to leave UK for good to live here (if they decide to have me petition them when I naturalize next year).

So..... they are thinking of applying for a B2 visa, so they can spend 6months each year here with us, looking after their grand daughter.

They own their house in London,

and considering my dads disability and diabetes i don't think it's wise for them to move here

they are 67 and retired now.

thoughts and suggestions please?

Child care is considered work. So be aware of the restrictions placed on visitors.

back to my original question, advise on 67 year parents applying for a B2 visa.

I advise them to be truthful and not state that they will be providing child care. Is that obvious enough for you to grasp?

Roulette.

Can work without a problem, or can backfire.

Only rolling the dice will get you a definite answer. I tend to think they will succeed, just because retired people usually have it easier, but what I think means nothing.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

They want to spend time in their retirement with their child and grandchild. Totally understandable.

It is always the tourist's responsibility to prove that they do not intend to take up permanent residence in the US. They should be able to prove that they have ties to the UK: your father's health conditions will be helpful here. Just so long as along with that they show that they will have some kind of travel insurance to cover them should he need medical attention whilst visiting the US.

There are a lot of retired snow birds with B2's.

The more practical issue is travel insurance, it got to the point with my Mother that the air fare and the insurance were sort of the same, and that was for 2 weeks.
