I have been trying diligently for almost 2 months now to get an appointment for Montreal with no luck...I have not seen one appointment come up the whole time. Just says "No Appointment Available at this time". I check every day as often as I possibly can (sometimes more then a couple times an hour) I have a 2 year old daughter so sometimes I can't, but I also have my family checking when they can too. Has anyone got an appointment since the beginning of Aug?? I can't get through to anyone at the embassy, and the call centre refers me back to the website...so I am at my wits end. My husband and I have been together for 10 years and as I said have a 2 year old daughter and in the last year have been apart for 8 months...I don't know how much more I can take of this!! If anyone sees appointments come up, or has any tips for me could you please post to this thread, thanks so much!!!

They opened up 10 appointmets last week, sadly I was not able to get one. They were gone so quickly. I have exchanged phone numbers with another couple so we are all checking and will let eachother know if there is ANYTHING available. Montreal is so backed up I am sure they will be opening more clusters of appointments in the next few weeks to squeeze in some extra interviews. PRAYING it happens for us all soon :)

I will let you know if I see any open.

Spousal visas are booked by the NVC unless you filed DCF.

There is a big waste of time and money in applying for the K-3 when you are already at the interview stage.

So if you are applying for a cr1 instead of a k1 the nvc schedules and not Montreal?

Yes spousal visas are booked by the NVC, K-1s book their own through that horrible website. The remaining few DCFs will book through the website as well. (DCF is no longer an option.)

When did they change it so DCF (direct consular filing) is not available? We did ours in May and applied at Ottawa with processing in Montreal, and are unfortunately using that "horrible website" which by the way I couldn't agree more, it is the stupidest possible thing going, peoples lives left to chance...horrible! Someone who got there pkt 4 yesterday could log in for the first time and get their appointment over someone who has been checking for months!! Its not right it should be in the order they are received. Anyways thats my rant about the website!!!

DCF is no longer as of August 15th 2011. There was big announcements on that on VJ and on USCIS website.

The only countrys that allow DCF now are ones that have USCIS offices in the country, unfortunately Canada does not have one.

This list of countrys are the only places that allow DCF now. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=1ac900c262197210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=1ac900c262197210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD

I agree! So the announcement does not effect us waiting for Montreal to open appointments?

what announcement?

K-1 is not a spousal visa nor is it a DCF. If thats the one you are talking about.

So they stopped DCF? That will mess people's lives up in the future.

If the NVC books your interview for a spousal visa...can you try for an earlier appointment or are you stuck with what they give you? I'm guessing at this point it would take 3 months from the time the NVC approves you?

You get what you get. Montreal is the only consul that does spousals.

Yes DCF has been ended since August 15th 2011. People who filed DCF before that date will finish their applications but no one else can file anymore from Canada.
