Hello Everybody

My wife is the winner of the DV Lottery 2011. We went to the interview on August 3rd at the US consulate in Benin , we took fingerprints paid the fees

and everything. Then we met The CO that just asked us if the paper that we filed has been done together. We said Yes and he asked me if we submited the

medical we said yes too and then asked me how is it in California since i'm was studying overthere.

Then he handed out a white slip 221g saying " NEED TO VERIFY HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA" and told us that we will get called soon. In fact my wife had her

high school diploma in other country (FRANCE)

Now its September 20th 2011 and the deadlines for any visa is September 30th 2011 but they haven't called me yet.

What should i do ? in this case will get my visa issued before September 30th ?

Thank You for reading and your answers will be more than Welcome . Thank YOu !!!

When was your interview?

Since her diploma was from France, did she sumbit a certified translation- ie are you sure they are not waiting for you to give them something?

Best thing would be for your wife, the DV winner, to contact the embassy asap and ask for an update.

my interview was August 3rd 2011.yes she submited the translation before the interview. We even called her school in France to approve her diploma by sending an email to the US Consulate. and when we ask for update all they say is THEY ARE NOT DONE WITH THE ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESS. Will they give the passport before the deadline September 30th ? will my visa be issued since they said all they have to verify is the high school diploma ?

There is no way of knowing. I am not 100% familiar with the DV process but would assume that as you ahd your interview, your visa can be issued even if document checks take you past the deadline, as it is a delay on the embassy's part, not yours. However, I strongly suggest you/ your wife who is the actual DV winner contact the embassy for a status update, in case they are waiting for you to do something or the passport got lost in the mail or whatever.

One of the few requirements of the DV Lottery is that the beneficiary can show the equivalent of 12 years of school. This is a rather annoying issue that has been discussed on specific sites ad nauseam. If your interview was in August, you are perfectly on track still. The U.S. immigration people are not known for their speed. If your baccalauréat is real, you will get your visa.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Thanks for your help . but anything we contact them thay say that its still in Administrative process. i dont think they want us to bring something because it doesnt say it on the paper . they need to verify the diploma thats it . Also the passport cant be lost because we dont proceed through mail in Benin . We bring it in person to the consulate . I just keep praying for only good news !!!

***** Removed second topic asking same question ******

You probably won't need a second interview if they truly just want to verify the BAC, but nothing is certain until you have the visa in hand.
