Ok, so my husbands interview was on the 14th of September I went with him everything was smooth and fast until we got to the final interview window and I/hubby was told our sponsor didn't make enough money so we have to go back when we figure it out......My situation is this....

My cousin filled out all the sponsorship paperwork on his own and it wasnt enough($18,387)

Now his wife said she would include her income with an I-864a

I'm confused....does my cousin have to fill out and I-864 again? or is the one on file good enough

is all I have to do is send the new I-864a for his wife including her birth cert. and 3 years tax info?

When doing the I-864 and I-864a is it based off of your AGI or your take home after taxes?

WHY DID THE NVC NOT TELL ME THIS BEFORE I TRAVELED ALL THE WAY TO COLOMBIA FOR THE INTERVIEW?!?!?!

If anyone has been in a similar situation your input would be greatly appreciated tahnk you!!!

Hey there...I'm guessing they denied your sponsor because your cousin is married. So he already has one dependent. This means he would have to make more than $20,000. I don't recall the exact number. Just remember to take a deep breath, and start calling USCIS to figure out what your consulate will allow you do to next. Perhaps email the consulate directly. Don't worry yet, just get to work on the next step. Praying for you!

You should submit a new I-864 of your cousin adding his wife's income and a I-864A of his wife along with a proof of relationship and 3 years tax info.

It is based on AGI (Adjusted Gross Income) and not on net. NVC sometimes may miss pointing that out but it is your responsibility to check I-864P and figure that out.
