Of course abuses would never occur.whistling.gif

You're being bit naive by taking the article at face value.

Obviously abuses COULD happen IF the law is being accurately described by this article. If that is the case it doesn't seem feasible that a law that's so vague you could be guilty of an offence for using a coffee machine could reasonably be upheld in court.

At risk of stirring this up and creating an entirely hijacked thread... the women on Match.com don't hold a candle to the women on loveme.com.

I got mine off Match - I was coming for a booze up in Chicago anyway so I thought I would nip up to Milwaukee for a laugh and to collect another lurid story.

Turns out she was my type - BIG red hair but not joined up freckles - small enough so I could rest my pint on her head - no brats - two cats - no tatts - own house and teeth.

Gravitational factor v acceptable. So the occasional stray does sign up with Match

I have noticed that in the last 10 years or so, stretching laws to suit the police seems to be the norm. In the South, they pull you for reckless driving if your tires kick up a few pieces of gravel as you drive off

I would certainly expect ANY law to be stretched to ridiculous lengths.

In the UK, a tipsy student was arrested for homophobic behavior for saying a police horse looked gay

I really dislike these badly defined laws that are so easily extended to unforeseen lengths

joke :

In England, 2 Pakistanis were crossing the road on a pedestrian crossing when they were hit by a drunk driver

One was thrown over a wall by the impact and the other went through the windshield and ended up in the back seat of the car

The Racist Police charged the first with 'leaving the scene of an accident'

and the second with 'breaking and entering'

Its a joke, but like all good jokes it has a recognition factor that this kind of extension of laws exists

Occasional is the key word there. Sure there are a few nice looking ladies on that site. But, if you head over to loveme.com the majority - not the minority - are attractive.

If you paruse the pages of US dating sites it's necessary to actively search for attractive ladies.

This should actually be done to 99.44% of all the American women whom I decided to date off singles' websites in the Bad Old Days pre-Mrs. T-B. A head-shot-only (or no photo), and defensiveness or evasiveness during inquiry about personal appearance, was a dead giveaway, sigh man. They would also lie about their age and their need for makeup, gag man.

Can we change this to 99.44% of all people? ;)

What has astonished me is how many people lie about something on the internet. I have never dated online, but I have met ~30 people through forum (not this forum) gatherings. These are people who have absolutely no reason to lie or exaggerate - they have partners, they're not looking to hook up with anyone - and yet they still do! I remember we once had a 'how tall are you' discussion. A guy who called himself 6' I would swear was no taller than me - 5'7. Even a girl I'd have also said was my height likes to boast of being 5'11. The percentage of men claiming to be 6'4+, if true, would surely break records. Of course nearly everyone lies about weight, and as for hair colour - I have met an awful amount of very mousy-brown-looking blonds.

Trouble is - tell the truth, and everyone will expect you to be shorter/fatter than you actually are. I looked over a morbidly obese friend's dating profile. He'd listed himself as 'overweight'. Mind you, all the women he met did the same. I think most people will take away a couple of inches and add 20 lbs to anyone's profile.

Then again... how many people do know how tall or heavy they are? I probably wouldn't be sure of my exact height if I hadn't had to be measured at the visa medical. Weights fluctuate. My husband went from 120 lbs to 140 lbs and neither he nor I noticed. He dropped six months later to 125 lbs - I didn't notice that, either. I told my sister how slim she was when I saw her this summer. I said wow, you've really lost weight! She informed me she'd gained 15 lbs since I'd seen her last.

Yes they take some sorting through.

'Average' is never that. I met an 'average' and when she cried, the tears ran down her back. 'Stunning redhead' means 'no hair, just a red head'

I had 6 years years doing dating sites and the stories were worth it - one had dirty fingernails and black greasy hair - she worked in a sewage plant dipping test tubes in sewage and testing it for microbes. Bought her half a lager than exited stage left.

He's 5'6, and a narrow build. Doesn't look skinny. Now, I do know a guy who is over 6 ft and 120 lbs...and I can almost fit one hand around his bicep. :o (Probably one of the few guys who didn't actually lie about his height or his weight!)

That's why I post pictures. Real pictures, not just "the good ones."

Seriously, if you look at women from RUB countries, the "average" woman is quite the looker.
