Hi everyone. So here's our situation. My husband and I had our interview yesterday, September 16, 2011. Upon entering the room with the IO, we were told to raise our right hand to undergo our oath. Then, the IO told us to lay everything we have as evidence on her desk. She looked at all our documents, proofs, pictures, etc. Then asked us the interview questions. Anyway, moving forward, when the interview was done, she told us that everything went well, and that everything looked good. She also told us about another review in 2 years. What is this for?? Then she told us to wait in the mail for the response in 30-60 days. I'm assuming this is my husband's greencard. She took my husband's I-94 from his passport, but returned his EAD card to us. Leaving the office, my husband and I were happy with how our interview went. But when we got home, I looked at the paper the IO handed back to us, and it said our case has been continued for "FURTHER REVIEW." What does this mean??? Also, i have read on the VJ site that mostly everyone who passed their interview had both their I-94 and EAD card taken, plus given a paper congratulating them or welcoming them to the US. But for us, only his I-94 was taken. Anyway, i'm starting to get worried. However, the same day of our interview, i received a notification update through USCIS stating that his case in under "card prodcution." Can anyone relate to our situation?? Please help my husband and I clarify this. We would greatly appreciate it. THANKS VJ family.

in 2 years you have to file for removal of conditions on the green card, you will have to provide 2 years of evidence of marriage and co-mingling your lives.

start looking up removal of conditions now so you know what you need to do and save for later.

You seem to be unfamiliar with the process after entering the US and marrying. What you have described sounds very typical. Many VJ members have posted the exact same details.

The IO is considering the content of the interview along with the content of your file. Likely they will determine that a GC should be issued and you will receive it in the time frame indicated.

However, the same day of our interview, i received a notification update through USCIS stating that his case in under "card prodcution." always equals 'Case Approved'.

I got the same letter at the interview. I got the "card production" notice on the same day. I received the "welcome" letter the following week and the GC a few days after that. During this time the status on the USCIS website flipped back and forth between "card production" and "post decision activity".

Hi,

We had our interview last Tuesday (16th) in Denver, but we weren't given any paperwork or letter. The I.O. said I will review later in the afternoon and we should have the Green card with 2-4 weeks. Oh and on the USCIS it still says Post Decision Activity.

Dave :)

Similar if not same was in my case. Sometimes the IO need to review and confirm the decision that they are making. And of course my card was ordered for production on the date of the interview itself but I was not told or Welcomed to US kind of stuff or any kind of indication that the interview has been a success at the time of the interview.

The 2 year review is the Removal of Conditions VJ has tons of info on that subject.

Ok, Maybe i'm just worrying to much, my husband seems calm about the whole situation. but anyway, today we received another notification from uscis. It seemed like it went back a step or something. On Sept. 16, 2011, it said "document/card production. but today, sept 19, 2011, it went back to "DECISION." What does this mean?? This is what it says:

Decision

On September 19, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before receiving your card, please call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

During this step the formal decision (approved/denied) is written and the decision notice is mailed and/or emailed to the applicant/petitioner. You can use our current processing time to gauge when you can expect to receive a final decision.

Can someone please explain this to me. Thank you.

btw, thank you so much guys for your help!! This whole journey would have not been possible if not for you guys!!

I am not sure what it means, to be honest. I can only elaborate on my own experience. We had interview on July 28th. IO took EAD card and I94 and said that it is approved and provided with approval paper. And gave instructions how to get permanent card in 2 years.

The updates always seem to go in reverse and can be confusing. It seems like you didn't need much additional review and were approved quickly. Congrats!

Exact situation here!! Had the interview this afternoon and was handed a letter by our nice io saying 30 day review. Few minutes after, I received an electronic notification saying its ON CARD PRODUCTION status.i know its gonna change stat again, like what happened with my ead production.mailed out but then jumped to production then mailed out. But hopefully card production=approved case.

Im wonderin though, say we didnt pass the interview, do we get a denied letter right away? Go to stokes (?) Interview? And will still get further review notice?

This is the official notice that you've been approved. The card has been ordered and you should receive it shortly. This is written in USCIS-speak which just confuses the issue instead of stating it clearly. My 'interpretation' is in red.

Decision

Decision has been made

On September 19, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. (You are now a permanent resident of the US and we have officially registered that status and sent you a notice telling you you are now a permanent resident ) Please follow any instructions on the notice. (This is a one size fits all 'catch phrase' - about the only instruction on the notice is to carry your new card with you at all times). Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. (Your card should be mailed within 60 days. Your letter states you are already 'registered" so there is no ADIT processing. There never is any ADIT processing listed in the approved welcome notice so just ignore this part - they are 'covering' their butts) If you move before receiving your card, please call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283. (If you change you address you need to notify them)

During this step the formal decision (approved/denied) is written and the decision notice is mailed and/or emailed to the applicant/petitioner. You can use our current processing time to gauge when you can expect to receive a final decision. (This is a standard 'explanation' of why they are sending you a letter - but it is a one size fits all explanation so they include it on all letters sent out at this stage, whether the application has been approved -which yours has-, is under consideration or has been denied. They are just saying that they send a notice and are using the same wording to try and fit all situations. This is the notice. There is nothing here specific to your case individually)

Can someone please explain this to me. Thank you.

btw, thank you so much guys for your help!! This whole journey would have not been possible if not for you guys!!

So, congratulations are in order and I suspect you will get the green card long before 60s days - a week to 10 days is much more usual.

(I have often thought I should apply to USCIS as a letter writer for them - they obviously are 'letter-writing-challenged'. I have never read a coherent, clearly written letter that has been sent from USCIS for any reason to anyone. I've often wondered if they have 'set' block paragraphs that they select from a series of options and put into a template rather than creating a letter specific to the situation involved. I can't believe that anyone really writes this poorly - so consistently. Either that - or they deliberately want any written communication to remain ambiguous so no one can claim they made an absolute statement that can come back to haunt them! ).
