Hi all,

Trying to get AOS started and we have sent the I-485, I-765 and I-131 4 times and I went to the mail box and it has been rejected AGAIN.

First sent in Sept 2010 and they rejected it due to wrong fees. First time sent the check for her, her son and Bios and it was kicked back. They didn't take into account her son. So I had it right but they screwed it up. Waited a few months (we were pregnant) and sent again. This time with 2 checks. One for what I knew was right and one with what they said they wanted which I knew was wrong. Bad idea. They didn't like the 2 check method so it was sent back again. Sent it again but didn't realized that the fees had changed so it was kicked back again. Got the money right but one of the forms had changed so we filed out a new form and sent it back with the new fess and kicked back again. Forgot to check a box on the new form. So checked the box and sent again. And I now have it in my hands AGAIN, with the same notes from a year ago that say the fees are wrong. Before I sent it last time I got an agent on the phone and she told me $1705 was right.

What are the fees?!?!?!?!?!!?!

$985 for the I-485 plus $635 for her son. Plus the biometrics for $85. That should be a total of $1705. I-765 and I-131 should be free since filed with a I-485.

We have included a check for $1705. Is there a Biometrics for her son? He is 5 years old.

I am about over this process and think we should just become an illegal family and put an Obama poster in the front yard so he can make all illegals legal since it is so freaking hard to do this right!

What are the fees. Can someone help?

The fee is pretty clearly stated on the USCIS website. $1070 for one adult. $635 for one child under 14. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=3faf2c1a6855d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

You really need to check the USCIS website for the correct fees and information. The phone operators are not accurate and called " misinformation line " for a reason.

Ok I'm still confused. You say that "AOS is $1070 you are way off the mark. " Then that $1070 plus $635 is the fee. That totals $1705 and that is what I have sent them. Am I missing something?

Someone may correct me if I am wrong but I am sure you have to make 2 separate cheques out one for the $1070 and one the son.Remember you are dealing with government workers :D

Yes but technically its two petitions not one petition for two people. It should be 2 separate checks one for each petition.

I suggest the OP send a copy of the USCIS website fee page highlighted the amount for the child and the adult and put 2 checks one for the adult petition and one for the child petition and affix the appropriate check to the appropriate petition.

That's funny you say that but also a great idea.

the reason it is funny is that this time THEY sent that page to ME with a highlight to certain areas. Highlighted first is the I-131 fee but then highlight is the waiver if filed with the I-485. So no fee. The the I-485 is highlighted for her. Fee $985. And under that is I-485 for him. Fee of $635. On the next page the -765 is highlighted with the fee waved with the I-485. So no fee. And then the Biometrics fee for $85 is highlighted.

So $985 + $635 + $85 = $1705

So, OK. I'll do two checks on Monday. But I'm sure it will be rejected. Just because they can!!!

Is there a office that you can walk into and pay in person?

Send two checks. One for your wife for $1070 and one for her child $635.

And no, no place to pay in person. You should be fine with the two checks. Double check the forms before you send it. Man how annoying!

If they reject it again with 2 checks and the highlighted page from USCIS please let us know, I think it wont happen this time. Unless your just having VERY bad luck with the adjucator your getting being that incompetent.

The USCIS is right. Before sending the application plz check for new forms & fees.

At least you can post on VJ to check with other members.

Mine is same. (Means Me and my son are the beneficiary)

We send a fee of (I-130 = $420,I-485 = $985+biometric fee of $85) = $1490 - This for Adult- me

For minor just take out the bio metric fee which gonna be $1405

My attorney suggest to send the fee in this way, not like what you guys are sending as some time USCIS get confused.

I set two application with two different money orders of $1490 and $1405, but in a same envelope.

Now I am waiting for my I485 approval as I got I-130 approved.

Yours is a different case as you are filing an I-130 and the OP is not which is why the fee is higher for you.
