Because these forms based on a marriage to a USC are not eligible for a fee waiver, by law.

A part of what your husband has to prove is that you will not become a burden to our taxpayers. To do this he needs to show that he has sufficient income or assets to support you. If he cannot do this he needs a co-sponsor.

I am in the same situation and am slowly filing out the forms. I am so glad for this forum and all the helpful members.

Would anyone know how much money I am supposed to have in the bank in order to show that I can support myself. Is there a set amount or some sort of calculation?

form fees are listed in the instructions or on the uscis website. I-485 is $1070 (I-131/i-765 are fee waived with the I-485), I-130 is $420 or something like that.

You will be interviewed.. your overstay might be asked about, but will not an issue, as it is forgiven as a courtesy to the USC spouse.

also is there a link for the fees for each form?

Follow all the instructions that were linked to above.

The government forms each come with 7 to 15 pages of instructions, highlight the requirements as you read them over. Each form has its own fee that is required as well as documents that must be included and a specific address to send the package which depends on what form of visa you are applying for. Read the instructions for each and your answers will be there.

You must do the government mandated physical with a doctor from the list - that will also require a fee ($365 for me for that alone last month)

If you miss any of the forms you will lose your place in line, if you don't submit the medical papers in the sealed envelope as directed - you will be held back until they recieve the proper paperwork. If you don't send the proper fees it can all be turned down as well. I recommend photocopying all the required evidence 5 times and back up your records to make sure you can cover everything they need as well.

Good luck

Okay thanks, and the to pay for the forms? check? cash? everything has to be paid in 1 shot? ... what will the interview be like?

someone also told me earlier about doing a medical exam? do i need to do this?

People need to use the USCIS website and look on there, USCIS is one of THE most important websites in this whole thing. It shows the fees, the instructions, where to mail it, it has updated forms etc. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis

You seriously need to do your own research.

Having money in the bank? you need INCOME you need to make above the poverty guideline for the 864. Which is also found on USCIS. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=73c63591ec04d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD

You need to prove 125% of the poverty guideline for income.

NO because Canadians do not get stamps or I-94s on entry.

you write on the space provided N/A Canadian.

FYI, my Canadian got an I-94 on entry (June 2011) because we had obtained a K1 fiance visa first (via I-129F.) I think you meant this is not received for a tourist visa entry, as she entered.

K1 Process:

NOA1 17 Sept 10

Touched 3 Oct 10

Placed Service Request 25 March 11

NOA2 4 April 11

Left NVC 15 April 11

Packet 3 letter dated 19 April 11

Packet 3 response sent 6 May 11

Interview 26 May 11

K1 received 1 June 11

Entered US 26 June 11

Married 6 August 11
