I am on the national sex offender list. In 2003 I had fondled the under 12 daughter of my best friend. I am truly sorry for that. I did serve 2 years of house arrest and am currently serving 20 years of probation for the offense. In all of that my wife of 22 years did divorce me though we are still friends.

In April of 2009 I married a lovely Filipina who I love dearly, a school teacher who had been a nun also.

In May of 2009 we first filed for change of status for my Filipina wife.

September 2009 we got the Intent to Deny letter. Our lawyer asked us to get some letters.

I got letters from the psychologist with whom I went to treatment and who I still visit nearly monthly,

and another psychiatrist and family members and some friends. The lawyer also wrote to dispute the application of the Adam Walsh law.

In January 2010 we got the letter denying my wife's visa and taking away her work permit.

In April 2010 we applied again with a new lawyer with much more experience and understanding of the mentality of the USCIS workers.

In October of 2010 we got the expected letter of Intent to deny.

This lawyer made us get all new letters and insisted that none of the professional letters could contain any sort of friendly tone but only hard and cold scientific evidence that could indicate that I was not a danger to the beneficiary, my wife.

I got many letters, from professionals, from the owners of the large software firm where I have worked since 1995, and convincing ones from family such as my sister telling how she can truly trust me even after such an error as I made. We did not include any polygraph because those things make me nervous such that whenever any question is asked related to my crime their needles nearly jump off their graph. It is not because I think ever again about anything inappropriate or commit such crimes, I am just one of those 20% who tell the truth and show up as nervous. There are also many who can lie with total calm on those measurements. https://antipolygraph.org/blog/?p=107 this link refutes polygraphs.

We had about 20 letters, 5 from professionals in the field, 5 from work like Human Resources and all, some from family like my son and his wife who can trust me with their baby, and other family friends. Some letters mentioned my community service and other things indicated in the Intent to Deny - Request for Evidence from the USCIS.

The lawyer prepared only a one page brief of what was submitted, no disputing to application of the law or anything like that.

All of these letters were submitted in January of this year. We waited, praying, and it great suspense until August when we got a letter for us both to go to the interview. The interviewer saw our lovely wedding album, realized we are still together after 2.5 years and approved my wife's permanent 10 year green card. What an incredible relief. Wow...

If you made some mistake, are on the sex-offender list and have rehabilitated and are marrying a non-citizen then I recommend you find an attorney with a lot of experience and knows how to think like an Immigration official.

despite a previous warning, one more post removed and member thread banned.

the op isn't looking for judgmental comments - either provide advice appropriate to the questions posed in the op - or don't post.

post returned below, minus the quoted material that was removed.

I am not related to the OP or is here to defend some wrong doing. But who are we to judge? Every person is entitled for repentance and who knows the person really is trying hard to change. Takes a lot of courage to be honest here or to anyone on what one had done. But the OP is not here to be judged by anyone. The post as it appears to me is to some other VJ in general who may had been charged of any crime ( be it purposely done or not ) to still find hope and to continue to see good things about life in the hopes of trying to correct mistakes which so happened in the past. Each of us are no excuse to mistakes, all of us do. To the OP, there is a room for change and forgiveness. Hopefully it really comes from your heart. Good luck to the rest of the journey!

Wow! Great news! Congrats !:) This is truly a revelation that there is NO CONDEMNATION under the kingdom of God.

Romans 8:1 "There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus". We just need to have HOPE, FAITH and LOVE in our HEARTS :)
