NOA2 Expiration

I noticed on the NOA2 that it expires on 13 Jan 2007. Does this mean the Embassy has until that date to approve the petition on their end and if they do not we have to submit for an extension or refile? What does the expiration date mean? Does it mean I we may betogether before that date? I searched and might have missed it, but I did not find this in the forum. Payato

What if my petition expires?

Consular officers have the authority to extend the validity of petitions that have expired. Because many petitions often expire before an applicant can be interviewed, officers at the Consulate routinely extend the validity of K-1 petitions.

I read this too, but it does not state whether I have to do anything. Does the consulate or embassy of the applicant extend the petition or does the petitioner have to ask for the extension?

Watch the time and if it gets close to the expiration date send them a letter like the one in the example forms here on VJ.

I know that Guangzhou tends to extend the dates because of the length of time that it takes for the petitions to get from NVC to them, they get held up at customs.

I know ours will be sometime next Feb or Mar. I took the timelines on this site and took all the times from NOA2 to Interview, and dis some calculating and came up with 196 days for NOA2 to Interview at Guangzhou.
