Paperwork for new job confusing when married to a non citizen

I am getting hired and completing the paperwork for my new job. It asks for a beneficiary incase I die, and it asks for the beneficiary's social security number. My husband doesn't have one since he is not a US citizen. I started to put my mother as the beneficiary, but then it says that if the beneficiary is not your spouse, the spouse must give consent and sign the paper. He can't sign it since he is thousands of miles away. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks.

moving topic from Immigration News and Discussion forum to Finding Work in America forum - even though it is the US citizen who is asking the question, the situation relates to a new job concern with regards to a non-US spouse and is more likely to get a useful response in that forum

In the field where it asks for your spouse's SSN, you write N/A or none.
