original birth certificate for NVC?

NVC web site indicates that they require an original birth certificate or a certified copy by an issuing agency. Could you please let me know how to get a second original certificate in Russia so that I could take a first one for the interview? Or what am I supposed to do? Thanks

You get that at the ZAGS office.

Certified copy is the way to go. They'll print you out another and stamp it. Easy. Can be done same day.

How about the marriage certificate and police certificate for the NVC? Do I understand it right that we need to get a certified copy of the marriage certificate from the ISSUING AGENCY (i.e., a notarized copy would not be good)?

Do we have to do the same for the police certificate, i.e., I would need to order 2 police certificates instead of one as a notarized copy would not be good?

If you're already married just get a certified copy the same as you would for your birth certificate. When you get your police cert, ask for two copies.
