hi again guys! heading to Morocco in DEC and have been looking up flights. i know Royal Air has a direct flight from NY to Casablanca but i found a cheaper flight from NY to Madrid then to Casa with Iberia... can any help and tell me which is the best route to go?? and also, with it being my first trip over, i am wanting to purchase my fiance's mom and aunt something to take with me for allowing me to stay in their house, what would be the best/proper gift for them? he says anything becuase it is coming from me, but i want them to love the gift itself, not just becuase i gave it to them. :D

My fiance suggested perfume, which is what i did. I got her 2 bottles of perfume and she loved it!! I received lots of hugs and kisses for that gift, LOL Im sure even a hand made gift would be nice also, they are appreciative of everything they get!! Well, I haven't done the Madrid route, but I have done Portugal, and I also did the direct from NY on Royal Air Maroc. I would say the only thing I would be concerned about is Royal Air Maroc losing your luggage on the return flight. That happened to me when I went through Portugal. They did eventually find it and send to me, actually rather quickly. Otherwise, I was happy with the RAM direct flight. They have good food! Also, they had a lot of empty seats, and I had three seats to spread out and fall asleep, so deeply, that a passenger had to wake me up in New York. Of course, saving money is also great, and if you don't have a huge layover or whatever, why not do the cheaper flight? If you have a huge layover, Madrid is an interesting city to visit!

hi! thanks for the reply!! Did RAM lose your luggage on a straight flight to NY or did it have a stop? the roundtrip for RAM doesnt have any stops its just straight from NY to Casa and same coming back. Iberia just has the stop in madrid and its like a 2 hrs layover... im jsut terrified of getting to Morocco without any luggage eek!! i am really hoping to be able to get a window seat if possible. i havnt flown since i was like 9 and itl be my first trip overseas! and byself... so im a lil weirded out by it. i know ill be fine once i get there with him but the process of going from NC to NY then to Casa by myself!! ahh gotta get prepared so im not freaked out or scared!

RAM is the one of the worst Airlines ever. It is an expensive Airline with crappy customer service. Lufthansa has some very cheap fares to Casablanca if the timing is right. As far as gifts, anything from the US would be greatly appreciated.

The first time I flew from Raleigh to NY, then straight to Casablanca on RAM. I returned the same way. I didn't have any problems. I also didn't have any complaints about the service, especially since I had already taken a bus 10 hours across the country during that night before. I found them just like any other airline, really. The next time, I had a terrible journey, because I had two overnight stopovers on the way back. First in Portugal, then Newark - so they lost my luggage, I believe from Casablanca to Portugal, but possibly from Portugal to Newark. It's strange, because I had a premonition they'd lose it when I dropped it off. So, I would say, take important things with you on the plane, like extra underwear, some clothes and other important stuff, and in your other luggage, just have clothes. Any airline can lose your luggage if you are switching planes. By the end of that flight, my carry-on luggage was broken, my glasses were broken, I had a killer migraine and I was pretty dirty, myself! Also, they might pat you down coming back from Morocco. They did it to me twice at two airports, so don't be alarmed. So, maybe go direct just because of the fact you haven't flown since you were young, and the next time you can look for a cheaper flight. Is he going to take you to the airport on return? Because you will have to go to a separate office in the airport to get your boarding pass, before you go check in, and you might want him there with you for that. Sometimes they are a bit slow in the airport, and might not be in the office all the time - they take their job rather leisurely - lol.

thanks! the two flights i have to chose from is Royal Air and Iberia... Iberia is cheaper but ive heard it was an older airline so there wasnt much to it, which i dont really care, im going to try and sleep on the flight over... im just terrified of losing luggage when having to change plans in madrid! eeek!! as far as gifts go, im just so worried about getting something they like. i am def a person that thinks about other before myself and make sure i dont offend anyone or upset anyone and want to make everyone happy regardless of how i feel ( its something abedine gets annoyed by because i think of others before myself) but i just want to make everything perfect! ive met and spoken with his family on skype and cant wait to meet them in person. im even getting better with my darija!

Oujda, which is 10 hours away - in the Northeast, by Algeria :) In fact, we drove through Taza the first time, when I rented a car!

When i travelled to morocco, I too wanted to bring a gift for my fiances mother.. i made up a cute little basket that had a scarf, bottle of lotion,a cup, some tea,and 2 votive candles. I also flew RAM...no issues at all, course most of the flight was during the night. My own personal thought... if you carry a purse, i recommend having one that has a zipper rather than a snap.
