Question on FBI Back Ground Check

I understand we give biometrics data to USCIS so they can have FBI do the back ground check on the applicants. There is also provision for individuals to check their own FBI file as self check so we can see what have in our own file. There are several FBI approved private companies can provide your own report to you after you submit them your finger prints and other data. Is there any difference between the USCIS initiated FBI background check and your own initiated back ground check. I do understand FBI might do name check and other several checks. But as far as the convictions and arrest and other data should be similar to self obtained FBI report and reported generated by FBI to USCIS. Could you please give me your input on this? If that is correct, can some check their own file before they actually applying for the N-400 and make sure there is nothing negative in the file? I know some back ground checks are done when you apply for govt jobs and health care worker jobs. Any comments?

I assume you could but I can tell you WITHOUT checking that my record is clean. Why do you doubt yours is?
