i got my immigrant visa and want to ask a question, i heard that your immigrant visa is suppose to expire within 6 months but i only got 2 months so i wanted to know if there is a reason for that.

Maybe your medical only has two months validity remaining?

maybe it depends on what kind of Visa you get. Also I know that for example if you had a medical a month before interview you would only have like 5 months for the visa. I might be wrong though so hopefully someone better qualified will comment.

An immigration visa is valid for up to 6 months. The validity period may be shorter if other documents will expire sooner. If your medical is valid for two months, then the immigration visa will only be valid for two months. If you want more time, then you would have to redo the medical and apply for an extension of your immigration visa.

An immigrant visa is usually valid for up to six months from the date of issuance unless your medical examination validity expires sooner, which may make your visa valid for less than six months. You must arrive and apply for admission in the United States before the visa Expiration Date.
