Hello, this is my 1st post and before anything i want to thank for all the info & help provided on this website. My fiance arrived last month & we have already gotten married.

Now we are preparing the AOS & EAD packages to send out but i have 2 questions.

1) I just noticed that the A# on my wife's I-94 is one digit different from the A# on her NOA2. The one on her I-94 reads xxx-xxx-599 & the one on NOA2 reads xxx-xxx-589. I am assuming that the inspecting officer made an error handwriting the A# on my wife's I-94 so i have added a text sheet to the package explaining that, but my question is which A# should i use in the AOS application forms?

2) My 2nd question is that the instructions on I-485 indicate that a certified copy of marriage certificate should be sent along with this form. Does that mean a photocopy of marriage certificate should be certified by a public notary?

Would appreciate any input.

I would follow her A# that's on her K-1 visa in her passport.

As for copy of marriage certificate, I understand that copies are made available by the marriage registrar. I submitted the copy I obtained from the marriage registrar where we were married.

Better use her A# on the NOA2, maybe the inspecting officer made an error writing her A# to her I-94. A photocopy of marriage certificate will be ok coz' you will bring the original on the interview.

Good luck

hrioo,

1) I would use the A# on the Approval Notice. It's the USCIS that assigns A-numbers, the number that is on the Approval Notice is the number that identifies the petition file.

2) Notary Publics notarize - they 'certify' that the signature written on a document was put there by the person to whom the name belongs. They do not certify anything about the content of the document. That aside, you only need to submit a photocopy of the original document, which is a certified copy.

Yodrak
