Top Secret America: Corporations Monitoring National Security.

The corporate interests involved with 'national security' is a bit scary... It's one thing when the government does it (which is BS on its own), but it's a completely different scenario when corporations have access to the technology and are monitoring national security 24/7.... It's a bit disturbing actually.

A glimpse into what’s really going on behind the scenes of national security is what Frontline gives us in their latest documentary entitled, ‘Top Secret America.’

Below is an excerpt from the episode of Frontline showing the lengths that government agencies have gone; to be able to keep an eye on not only what’s going on internationally, but also what’s going on at home as well.

The documentary gives us a glimpse into exactly what’s going on behind the scenes and how “Big Brother” has become a reality with a million or more people working for corporate national security firms studying and monitoring the moves of every day Americans. With the use of satellite imagery, wire tapping, wireless tapping, CCTV camera, etc. a full network of studying American citizens every move is alive and well and growing larger year after year.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has spent billions of dollars giving state and local police departments equipment that allows them to monitor the populous 24/7. From on-board cameras to automatic license plate readers, local municipality feeds are heading directly into large corporate and government facilities that are allegedly attempting to catch would-be terrorists before they strike.

The network is so big and so vast that the DHS will not release exact figures on what is being spent on domestic security with these corporate firms. It hides behind the guise of national security in wanting to keep all information in regards to these actions Top Secret. Anyone who dares to get answers as to why American citizens are being watched like they are is immediately shut show and any Freedom of Information Act requests have any critical data redacted from the documents.

While national security is important, we have to wonder how technology is being abused already and how it might be abused in the future. In the Frontline documentary, mention is made that not all security agencies are even knowledgable of what new technologies certain agencies might have. Sometimes not know for years. With the technology we know about, it’s only safe to assume that surveillance technology is much more advanced than we know about.

It looks like after decades in being chastised, conspiracy theorists are finally right. Big Brother is watching. Not only is he watching, he is listening, monitoring, and recording our every move. This should be a concern to all American citizens.

As Frontline's documentary even says, the first President to cut funding to 'anti-terrorism,' and if there's some sort of an attack, then the other party is going to destroy them.

I think the real eye opener as well should be to those who scream about Bush and his war crimes, when at the end of the day Obama is just as bad, if not worse.

The great eye opener will come when folks start getting free rides on the high speed rails to happy camps for their own protection.

The parallels between this administration and the situation in Germany in the '30s is horrifying. I hope the apathy and laziness of the common american saves us this next go-round. I doubt all that furvor will be apparent at the polls like it was last time. "Hope and change" didn't pan out like they thought so they'll probably try the time-honored american tradition next time, "sit and b!tch."

On this soil, despite what propaganda pieces are out there, alleged 'bad' people have rights as well.

it's funny too because everyone is all like 'oh that can't happen here, it's why they built those prisons overseas.' Yet they don't look at all the prisons we have built here that sit empty, and waiting for a domestic incident...

We're talking about you and your family's every moved being watched by an over-reaching government. They are so over-reaching, they have contracted several corporations that employ well over a million people to monitor American citizens every single move. Yet you don't have a problem with this?

My god, welcome to Nazi Germany folks! People will line up like herded sheep because after all, their government will never use this against them, they will never hurt them. Nope, not at all!
