My dad died back home and I need to stay longer. Can I???

OP, so sorry for your loss. My mom passed away a few months ago leaving just my dad and I and my husband. It's a long, dark, lonely road so I send you many many hugs.

I don't have any answers regarding the time you'll be out of the country but I was out of the country for almost a year (to study) and upon arrival, they asked me and I told them i was studying abroad. That was it. (it was not a big deal from what i remember...)

But, keep a death certificate and perhaps a doctor's note that your father was sick for several months and you helped take care of him until his passing.

Honestly, let that be the last thing on your mind right now (easier said than done of course).

My mother passed away March 18, 2010. Sincere condolences for you and your family.

It is a good idea to have a translated copy of the death certificate for reasons other than re-entry. This way, you will have all of your bases covered.
