When people ask me over and over again" So when are you leaving?, why is it taking so long? BLAH BLAH BLAH I just want to scream...lol.. so it is a normal thing. I just say "when the government allows me to go". No answer on the when anymore. My fiance and I talked last night and have decided we will have a secret wedding when I get there and marry a few months later when the weather will be nicer. I wasn't sure at first and the more we thought about it the more fun it sounded. No one will know we are married we can start the paperwork and then poof have the wedding we were going to have. As for the when should they book their vacations??? you just don't know..

Exactly… Sometimes I feel like they are a little bit egoist and just want to know when they can plan their vacations to the US, so I end up telling them "well, it can be in a year or 2, so if you're so in a hurry, you can plan your own vacations there when you want!".

"at long last", I answer the same thing as you!

Timeline

Our plan is to have a legal wedding upon her arrival. We've loosely planned and coordinated our dream wedding (a lot of home-made materials, special locales, wardrobes, food, etc. - we love working on this stuff! heh). We plan on having her family come as well, so it's really hard to say with the variance in time with the K-1 process. Coordinating an international wedding without a hard date ain't easy!

Our firm plan is that once she arrives and we do our legal ceremony, we'll spend our first few months together working on our wedding - building the crafts, shopping, etc. One great thing we use is Google Doc's and the Sharing feature - we're able to shop, find photos and ideas for brainstorms, and edit documents together. This is a GREAT tool for us, as it gives us a fun activity to do together in the interim. We've used it for a lot of the K-1 work as well.

For us that makes the most sense - we hope to be approved and together by February - April (that's roughly what the timeline looks like). I'd imagine this is one of the hardest parts of the K visa program. How the heck is everyone supposed to coordinate family, ceremony, location, etc?? There's wild time variance because of the NOA2 times.

Our Timeline...

08/2010 - Followed each other on Twitter

12/2010 - Started talking to each other privately

01/2011 - Made commitment to each other, became serious

05/01/2011 - Met in Los Angeles & Sparks Flew

08/14/2011 - Engagement in Santa Barbara :)

08/24/2011 - I-129f sent to CSC

08/30/2011 - NOA1 Received

11/02/2011 - NOA2 Received

11/20/2011 - Visit to Japan :)
