Hi,

My case (questions) are very simple and straightforward. I know this has been discussed before and I did search and read other posts, but I couldn't find step-by-step answer.

I appreciate your answers.

Me: US citizen by naturalization 2011. Mom: in Iran. never been in US before.

I want to get her a green card. I understated the very first step is I-130 with a few supporting documents and fee of $420. That's fine so far.

1) I've been reading people filing I-485 at the same time with I-130. Is it something I should do? Something I can do? Something I better do if I don't want any delay in the overall process?

2) How much of fees the whole process is gonna cost? $420 for I-130 + $1070 for I-485 + what else? I've heard some affidavit of support from NVC. Any idea on the complete list of fees?

3) Can anyone explain (even in brief) the steps from I-130 till she gets her GC in hand? Sorry for my low level of knowledge on this subject?

4) When she goes to the US embassy, does she get her GC, or an immigrant visa just to come to US and the get her GC here? Or she needs to apply for GC once she is in US?

That's what I didn't find in other posts.

Thanks for any help.

It goes down like this...

1)The I485 is to adjust status, you don't need this because your mother is not in the US.

2)

I130-$420

AOS- $88

IV- $404

plus medical and the documents you need to gather.

3)I130

NOA1

NOA2

AOS/DS3032

DS230

4) At POE after being processed she will receive the I-551 Stamp on her Visa which serves as a temporary Greencard. Her actual Greencard will be ordered and she should receive it within 2 months.

I am filling DS320 form for my mom and I am confused whether to provide my father's information on line 14-18 (father names/date of Brith/occupation etc...) or leave it blank. Please help.Thank you

Hi everybody,

I received the NOA2 that says I-130 was approved and the case was forwarded to NVC. I got the mail about 2 weeks ago.

Can anybody tell me what's next?

Should I just wait or should I contact NVC?

Is my mom going to get a package in Iran as well?

Thanks,
