Good luck for next week. I think seeing as you're a military family, they might shift things a little quicker for you. Well, we can wish that for you, right? ;)

I went to my IO today, since the earliest I can get an infopass is for October 6 here in the Virginia office, and by then I hope to be overseas.

They told me my case was entered in the system on August 28th (the day they received it) and that USUALLY they send the NOA in a week. But also said that they might have a back up.They also gave me the receipt number, so at least that's something...

I asked if I could travel and get somebody to mail the NOA to me. They say that I can leave the country (that's no problem) but, I might have problems trying to get back in. They say they recommend waiting for the NOA if it's not an emergency.

So that's the last news. Good luck Lou Lou. It seems we're "about" to receive the NOA.

Thanks for the update. Is there anyone else who could mail it to you if it doesn't make it in time for your hubby? It seems a shame to spoil your plans seeing as you're going to be out there for so long. I would have thought it flipping well should get to you by then.

I'm gonna be well effed off if I don't get it by the time the card runs out. I have quite a few trips to Canada and overseas planned. Oh well, nowt I can do but wait it seems.

Hello guys,

as promised, here I am with the update about my Infopass appointment...which was a TOTAL succes!!!

It was all very quick...once I got to the window, I told the IO my situation so the first thing she did was to check if my case was in their system...she said it had been entered september 22nd so after one second she said "there are 2 things you can do, you can wait for your NOA or, if you need to travel very soon, I can just take your conditional green card now and give you a stamp to extend your status for 12 months with a note that your I-751 has been filed". Needless to say I handed her my card right away lol, so she took it, stamped my passport and hand-wrote the note about the I-751! She basically said they don't usually do it but that it could be done, I get the feeling my husband wearing his uniform (not done on purpose, he just came and picked me up straight from work and didn't have time to change  ) might have had something to do with it, needless to say I probably was lucky and got the nicest IO of the entire country :star: .

I AM SOOOO HAPPY!!!! My MIL is coming to visit us until Sunday and then we are hopping on the first available flight!

I hope those of you who are waiting for your NOA and need to travel soon, get it on time..if not, give the Infopass a try!!!!

Goodnight everyone (F)

P.S.

Thanks everyone for the good mojo sent my way, it definately worked so right back at ya!

Wow, thanks Churipu! That's good news!:dance::dance:

I already bought my tickets yesterday, so I hope I get the stamp too at the appointment I have scheduled for October 6th...I'm travelling Oct 10th...

Maybe by then we all have our NOAs...who knows...

I wonder if you can renew your drivers license with just the stamp in your passport...here in Virginia, when

your greencard or visa expires, your drivers license expires too.

Yeh, that is my plan of action. The staff at my local office are really lovely so I'm hoping I won't have any problems. To be honest, if I worked at the VSC (I've been in the building), I'd be slow at my job too. It's a depressing place :(

Hi guys!

I went to my appointment today with my infopass, and they gave me the I-551 stamp. I didn't even had to say that I was travelling soon. They kept my greencard, and gave me a receipt number that they say I can check on the internet (I don't know if I believe that). They say I can travel, work, etc with that stamp. I don't need the NOA anymore then.

Also with the I-551 stamp I was able to renew my drivers license (that expires in Virginia the day your greencard expires).

Good luck to everybody else!
